Question Recovering JD2 download list

My computer froze while copying data from one USB disk to another, JD2 was running in the background. Nothing was responding so I had to do a hard restart.

However, JD2 seems to have lost all the download links after restart, it's loading up an old 2013 download list. Looking for all the download list zips in the cfg folder is not showing any old list zip files but lot of old broken files.

I had keepxold lists set to 5, so shouldn't the old lists be somewhere?

The downloadlist zip files are all recent, I need something before 2nd june to be able to recover the files.

Any ideas

Google - Search for Undelete 360 (Freeware)
Install to a different harddrive
Start a scan on your D: drive with the jdown folder

Find the files you need - restore them to different harddrive - copy & paste to JD2
Win ?

1. Make a backup of the files .zip
2. Delete the files .zip (the original .zip files) - Only keep the most recent .zip file or the most bigger
3. Start JD2

I have Active Undelete, have started the scanning of D drive for deleted zip files, fingers crossed.

I did that, only old links are showing, looks like JD2 was unable to write to disk the download list file and the old download list files were recycled/deleted

Are the .broken files useful in anyway...

No double (consecutive) posts please, see the forum rules!

If you can open the broken files with winrar, check all files that are into the compressed file, the files should have the name 00, 01, 02... open those files with notepad (or a similar program) and check their content, there should be the links that you had.

Sorry about the double post.

I did try opening the .broken files, neither winrar or 7zip were able to open. I also tried few zip repair programs, they weren't able to extract anything from the repaired zips. Looks like I am screwed

Then I'm afraid to say that... There is nothing to do, the list(s) has(have) gone :/

Just one doubt, where is this old 2013 list coming from? Why is it loading that list of all things, can't Jdown find anything recent other than such an old list!

I notice that, and seems weird

Dunno.
Please compress the folder "logs" and the folder "cfg", then send them via EMail to support@jdownloader.org, hope the developers can tell you why this happens.

You have 2 2014 downloadlist with size 1.4 MB.
2013 file is database, maybe from JD 0.9, converted to be used by JD2 when you installed it.

Did a scan, took 3 hours, couldn't find anything useful from it :(

Tried Undeleted 360 too.

Will do this, not having auto backups in JD2 has come back to bite me really bad :(

The two download list were created when I started JD2 after restart, they contain the old 2013 links, strangely I can't find a single backup for the download list just 5 hours older.

6 broken download lists are 6 hours older, 5 of those were the backups.
Did you start the copy around 21:00 and force restart around 3:00?

Yup, the broken files are the key but it seems I am unable to use it to recover the list.

You are correct about the timings, my computer froze around 9 pm and at 3 am I found out and restarted.

If only I can make use of the broken files which seems to be split files of my actual download list (download list is 1.4 mb, broken files are 0.7 each), things would be easy.

Ya, first thing I did was a forum search and followed Lram32's instructions on an another thread. The downloadlist zips are all the new ones which show the 2013 list, the 2014 ones are stuck in the broken files and is not recoverable!

I mean this one: Please compress the folder "logs" and the folder "cfg", then send them via EMail to support@jdownloader.org, hope the developers can ... help you.

When file system is broken, it's up to the OS to recover it.

I will do that once I am out of my depression:(

I have gone back to using JD1, the peace of knowing you have backups is more satisfying than the cool features in JD2.

Between, one thing I noticed was that even if I replace the entire CFG folder from a new JD2 installation to the old one, it still loads the 2013 list, where is it getting that from if CFG folder was replaced!

If there is no downloadlist..zip, it will use database..zip, if no database..zip, it will convert database.script from config folder.

I managed to recover most of my download list after an accidental delete using one of the download list files.

I copied the largest, latest file to a separate folder.
Then I extracted all the files into a new folder on their own.
Then I opened the file numbered 00 in Notepad.
Ctrl-A to select all. Ctrl-C to copy to clipboard.
JDownloader extracts the download links from the text.
Do that for each numbered file in turn.
