What you show is NO bug. You compare two different plugin versions and of course they can work differently! So of course! urls may be different.
missing/existing space in Encoding header is fine. This is no bug.

Current plugin:
GET /photo-nnn_nnnnn, many "You tried to load...".
Old plugin:
POST /al_photos.php, not a single message as above.
What revision is your old plugin?

For many long years, there were no problems with the downlaoding, so I do not know what you mean ?
You can always change something in the code plug (not necessarily good effect) because none of the developers does not test, only users.

You have super fast connection to vk, so only you have problems, not us.
