Default Migrating JD2 to new SSD now runs very slow

Decided to move my W10 OS & apps to new SSD. Installed new JD2 and copied /cfg directory to new install. Finds all files & passwords but runs very slow.

The lists are quite large files (almost 800Kb) so is there a simple way of cleaning up redundant archive/backup files before I copy over that would help speed JD2 up?

Could there be an issue with the version of Java on the new SSD compared to the Java on the HDD?

Any pointers/assistance would be very gratefully received.

Can you provide a screenshot of the about dialog of your new JD installation?
800Kb filesize for lists is very little, so that's not the problem.
Slow in what meaning? user interface? download? interaction? reaction?

My apologies but that should have been 800Mb...

Attached the details from the new install.

New install is deadly slow switching between tabs or scrolling down "LinkGrabber" list and typically crashes on exit.

800MB???!??? In that case of course your JDownloader will not work properly
Your Java is limited to 256MB of memory! That is not enough! Not enough by far!

for such a huge list you need several gb of memory to run smoothly!
How much memory does your system have? I'm asking and wonder why Java only is allowed to use 256MB max.

In your JDownloader directory you should find a .vmoptions file. Open/edit it and remove any -Xms or -Xmx line
and add new -Xmx4g
to allow max 4Gb of memory. Once JDownloader has loaded the list, you should remove outdated/older/already loaded entries.

Yes, I thought that might be a problem... But it was working (relatively) fine on the previous install!

I have 8Gb in the PC at the moment but upgrading to 16Gb shortly... which may help.

I have done as requested and it seems to be working, though still a little slower than before. I think the main reason may be that many of the links in the LinkGrabber list are expanded to all sources. Is there a simple way of compressing the links to the main title rather than clicking the '[-]'?

Thanks again!

Your previous installation must be different in memory configuration of java. No way such large list can work with only 256mb of memory
The main reason is the large list itself. Doesn't matter if you expand/collapse the packages. I recommend to remove older/history entries from list. This will result in huge speed up

Thanks, have collapsed all the links and it does scroll a little swoman.

I will clean up the older entries to get it down to more manageable levels!
