I am having the same problems, I open jdownloader and start my downloads, then when I next check them, it has crashed, the window has parts that are grey'd out and it is unresponsive. I Force Quit the application and then restart it and my progress is lost. The program is basically unusable now.

I have the same problem, i'am on Mac OS-X 10.6.8. What I've tried out to solve the problem:
- restart the system - stopped all processes, except jDownloader - checked system updates => installed the latest java update - start jdupdate.jar from the installation directory .. but nothings works for me, jDownloader still freeze! I downloaded a old version (0.9579) from the uptodown site, this one doesn't freeze but almost any plugins is out of date Seems we have to wait for the next update! |

if you can not open JD how do you expect to update ? you need to follow directions.
please try and fix your rotten apples, terminal or file explorer, find your way to /Applications/JDownloader/ look for location of jdupdate.jar, think its content/resources/something/ and run jdupdate.jar, I assume you can do that with a double click or right click, open/run with java. from terminal 'java -jar jdupdate.jar' raztoki edit @Xaphier thanks for you post (just beat me), can you please provide terminal debug logs please. java -Xmx512m -jar JDownloader.jar -debug

blocking updates is silly stop gap measure. Plugins are required in order to keep a working JD. It's smarter to get this issue resolved. Try to update with jdupdate.jar and post logs into our pastebin service http://jdownloader.org/pastebin/ and reply with url so we can analyse.

after last week updates my jdownloader is no longer working
macos 10.6.8 and java 1.6.0_65 (update 17) I'm not able to use debuggers, command lines, edit java code, send error strings, decompile applications, write machine language code, modify kernel etc. etc. I've just always used jdownloader in the last years without any kind of problem what can I do? Hi Raztoki,
are you saying that the bug we discovered here is fixed? or to you suspect that we all have run into an update problem? |

@Linus:org
Jiaz believes he has fixed the issue, hence why we are asking those effected to run jdupdate.jar. @smokerman All I asked was to update JD running jdupdate.jar you don't have to edit / decompile / write machine or language code, modify the kernel. @Xaphier was that after running jdupdater.jar ? if so I no longer se the exception which was preventing JD from starting. But I do see, Exception in thread "JD-StartDownloads" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space A couple weeks ago there was a bad installer/.app out that set to 64MiB heap space. Not sure how much yours starting with as the logs don't indicate (but if you used the debug command line I gave above it should be starting up with adequate (512)). But to be sure you can download a new installer/.app @everyone Jiaz indicated if anyone is using Mac OSX 10.8.5 Please read http://support.jdownloader.org/index.../macos-app-nap

Hi Edermac
my post was also deleted, looks like we rather solve the issue and do not block updates by editing host files or configure some firewall settings |

The problem is not that we can't update to the broken version. It's that latest update breaks the program. (Or at the very least, it's the update released this past weekend. You seem to imply there was another one since, but the Changelog isn't being maintained.) Regardless, I tried that after your previous post -- using jdupdate.jar instead -- and it broke the program. Same as updating from within the program. Quote:
Again, I don't see why the update that broke the program hasn't been killed. Then we could all update to the latest version before it broke, so we would have the most recent plugins -- up until that point -- required to keep JD working. And the developers could work on a new update that works in the meanwhile. |

So the problem is with our Apple computers being rotten and broken and not a software problem? Or just making a joke?
I checked for processes and ran the update (which worked) but the program still freezes up. I downloaded one Hotfile link successfully but when I tried to remove the link from the download list the program wouldn't respond and I could no longer scroll the list up and down. After a few moments the program quit unexpectedly. I tried going to the "Log" window, but the program would not respond. Will the log you need still be there when I restart the program? |

hi,
just finished the update (2947 files) on my PC using command line 'java -jar JDownloader.jar -debug 2> errlog.txt >log.txt' in the install directory. Things are going far better (no more freezing, reread old jdc files, find links are online, recognize captcha, etc). Still ok after reboot, Just little tricks left : -sometimes do not find a link is already in the download list when adding a second time (can happen when merging different jdc files) -delete link if offline, even if deactivated when I add in the download list (would just like to keep name/ref of some files even if url changed) Thank you all Last edited by noone1; 21.10.2013 at 21:44. |

Hi Noone, sorry but are you talking about a PC running windows?
problem here seems to be related to MAC OSX |

yes, as I told in my first posts and it's just for info if this can help but the bug concerned also both OS (pc, mac, linux), and there is yet at least 2 topics about the bug, didn't want to create a third one (according to the one on linux, problem seems corrected too, so I hope it won't be late for mac...)

100% JD Crashes After Update
JD Nightly has been pretty much dependable for a loong time that I've been running it. Until this past week.
Apple SW Update installed the latest Update to Java Runtime. Java -version gives me the following: java -version java version "1.6.0_65" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode) After this update, I'm now getting 100% CRASHES on JD Nightly. After grabbing links, if I go into "Accounts" to de-select an account and activate another one, JD will freeze. I have to force-quit. If I try to move two or more links into one package, JD Nightly will freeze. I have to force-quit. If I'm lucky enough not to have JD Nightly crash and I'm able to start my downloads, at some point the app INVARIABLY freezes. I come back, have to Force-Quit the App, and here are some of the messages in my Console.: 10/21/13 7:34:53.062 AM [0x0-0x107107].jDownloader: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" 10/21/13 7:35:49.419 AM [0x0-0x107107].jDownloader: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: Exception java.lang.OutOfMemoryError occurred dispatching signal Unknown Signal to handler- the VM may need to be forcibly terminated 10/21/13 7:35:52.966 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: ([0x0-0x107107].jDownloader[52871]) Exited: Killed: 9 10/21/13 10:09:54.938 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Exception in thread "Downloadchunk 962394806 - -1" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space 10/21/13 10:11:27.075 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Exception in thread "Downloadchunk 0 - 962394805" 10/21/13 10:11:27.458 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space 10/21/13 10:11:31.133 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Exception in thread "JD-StartDownloads" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space 10/21/13 10:11:42.639 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Exception in thread "EventSender:runDog" 10/21/13 10:11:45.343 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space 10/21/13 10:11:51.480 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Exception in thread "EventSender:watchDog" 10/21/13 10:11:52.263 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space 10/21/13 10:19:12.669 AM mdworker32: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged. 10/21/13 10:59:52.299 AM xpchelper: for uid: 501 -- timeout while waiting on FSEvents flush; clearing cache. 10/21/13 11:31:30.735 AM JavaApplicationStub: CGContextGetCTM: invalid context 0x0 10/21/13 11:31:30.735 AM JavaApplicationStub: CGContextSetBaseCTM: invalid context 0x0 10/21/13 11:31:30.735 AM [0x0-0x11c11c].jDownloader: Oct 21 11:31:30 Hackintosh.local JavaApplicationStub[62623] <Error>: CGContextGetCTM: invalid context 0x0 I need a fix and ASAP. I tried the usual jdupdate.jar update to no avail. Also, the two lines of Console readout related to Apple Spotlight I left in, but I don't believe they are related to the problem. BTW, JD2 Beta is NOT a fix as far as I'm considered. I tried it with Zevera and it has been a disaster—100% dropped d/ls, 60%+ CRC Errors. Plus, I can't change the interface to look like Aqua, things aren't simple and where I need and/or expect them to be (the result of non-Mac people working on the interface) and I simply don't wish to change, since everything was working fine with Nightly before this happened. I just want to know how to fix JD Nightly. Is it possible to overwrite the just-installed Java Update with an older, previous version?
