@siac1
As was mentioned before, please post your log to identify where the problem is. I could say devs will take care of this issue tomorrow (Monday).

Ok to address users with issues after recient plugin updates for JDownloader 0.9 or NIGHTLY. This primarily effects MacOSX users, but some windows users are also effected! The reason this has happened is we have too many plugins which as used permgen memory address space. What we have done to resolve this or at least try to is, to delete a heap of plugin classes which are no longer used and have been missed in cleanups for various reasons. We have released another update to try and address this (deleting of plugins comes from plugin update system).
You will need to close JDownloader if running Mac You can do this via terminal, 'cd /Applications/jDownloader.app/Contents/Resources/Java' (think it is) and run 'java -jar jdupdate.jar', I assume you can do this also in file explorer type of thing, and run jdupdate.jar as java application also (sorry not a Mac user). Windows Open cmd, goto JDownloader install directory 'cd "c:\program files\jdownloader\"', run 'javaw -jar jdupdate.jar' or via explorer click jdupdate.jar and run 'Java application' Other solutions to help solve issue, make sure your not using Java 1.6, upgrade to Java 1.7.0_65 or newer (seems to have higher permgen allocations), but stay away from Java 1.8 for JDownloader 0.9/NIGHTLY. Alternatively the easiest solution is to move to JDownloader 2, as it doesn't have this issue. raztoki, on behalf of JDownloader Development Team

On OS X, Java 7 only runs on 10.7.3 or later.

Sure about that? I'm aware that Apple can no longer provide there own Java due to licence changes since Oracle bought out SunMicroSystems. You have the uninstall Java6 provided by Apple and goto http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ads/index.html and select JRE7 and install yourself. If I'm on the wrong track let us know.

Java6 has been discontinued over in 2013
Java 6, First public release: Dec 2006, end of life: Feb 2013 Java6 is highly exploitable I advise that you upgrade to Java7 for JD0.9/Nightly

Windows 7 / JD 0.9:
Since the update JD is just not opening! I see the icon in the systemtray and mouseover shows potential DL speed ... but the actual interface doesn't open. It ran perfectly before! I tried the jdupdate.jar with my good working java 6, no success. Then I updated to java 7 and started jdupdate again. Same issue... NO INTERFACE ! Last edited by jetsetter; 23.09.2014 at 19:26. |

Ok good to know. Sucks to be you I guess. Are there any reasons why you haven't been keeping up with OS upgrades? I believe Apple has made the OS free now? Maybe there is some type of hardware restriction also? @jetsetter not sure what to recommend other than maybe clean config/ directory. you could try to close jd, rename config/ to config.old/ and start jdupdate.jar see what happens, as an experiment. It will create clean/new configs and you can revert changes easy enough with another couple directory renames. raztoki

Doing what you suggested meant starting fresh and "worked". So it did open again. Switching back to the old config folder, brougth back the old problem. Any option left to maybe combine these two without losing my huge download list? Thanks again |

@jetsetter
not sure, maybe using hotkeys whilst the application is selected/in forground. But as you stated you can't do that. Maybe jump our online chat and find myself and ask for Teamviewer session. See what I can find out. raztoki

JD was working fine with Java 6 until the last update broke it. The last time I backed up my applications was 15 August. I don't back up applications up as often as my data, because I could just download any interim updates if necessary without losing anything. So I'm currently using JD from 15 August (0.9.581). It says 780 updates are available, but otherwise seems to be working fine. Unfortunately, JD doesn't seem to keep an update repository. So I can't update it to right before the update that broke it. So until the latest update is fixed, updating is either all or nothing. Last edited by mark909; 24.09.2014 at 21:20. |
