Lightbulb Change User agent

Hello!

Can you please add an option as a extension to change user agent string ? Or make something when we start JD from command line like this: jdownloader.jar --useragent mynewuseragentsstring
At least add it to todo list for faraway feature

Thanks!

The "user agent string" is managed by jD. Why would you like to have that function?

Being able to change it will only cause lots of new problem because depending on the user-agent many hosters show dofferent sites or errormessages!

Look here from official getright downlod manager : **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** ( h t t p : / / g e t r i g h t . c o m / useragent.html )

You don't have to change your agent string. This must be just as an option (by warning (notice...) the user).

(Some sites have their own download managers which i have never can download them But we can not download any file from their sites if we don't use their download manager. Maybe we will found the agent string of their manager and we will download from their sites. I have never done it before but sometimes i saw many sites like this. But i don't have adress to give you now. I even download the managers of them.)

As long as this is a theoretical suggestion, there is no reason to implement this in the real world.

As soon as you can find a real good reason jD might consider your requirement.

if you have a page which needs a special downloadmanager, then we can add support for it.
but providing customized useragents will only increase supportwork alot cause each single plugin can behave complete differently with another ua. and i dont want to ask everytime, did you change your ua!?

Please look here : http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=28650

Well, the solution to that sort of problems is in "Guide: How to modify JDownloader's user-agent string".

Why you don't add as a feature even you have this solutions thread stinky on the forums...
It is difficult to understand what is going on on this solution..

And this is good so only people who know how to do it do it!
It's declined and now this thread is closed.
Now that we don't accept critics but we decide what will be implemented and what not and if this isn't okay for you you can still implement it on your own as JD is open source!

because we dont want users to change this. if they change ua, it will become much more complicate to give support/help them.
if you really want to change it, you have to use that kind of workaround.
maybe in future we will give *expert* settings for that, but i dont know yet
