Default *.RAR files cannot unrar via JD2 [Use RAR5 BETA version]

*.RAR files cannot unrar via JD2. Another app can unrar those RAR files without any error.

RAR file: https://docs.google.com/file/d/1ZKR1...lhIGtR0LL-jrNO

unrar password: truekiller123

If it is a BETA feature, there should be a backup to this... I suggest allowing USER to choose program to UNZIP/UNRAR files.

This would suit me fine since then I can change between WinRar or 7Zip as I wish.

@wildman, currently the extraction module doesn't allow for this, everything is handled within its 7zip java library. You could possibly have ability to utilise external tools of your choosing when triggered by event scripter.

Beta "Updated on 24.10.2016," and nothing since.

But seems to work for most people -- it did for me.

Now sites like rmz.cr are using this form of RAR for its uploads, so more RAR files had an "extraction error" and I had to manually extract using 7-zip. Did that for a few weeks -- I thought JD would have an update for such an obvious issue soon enough, but eventually came here to report it and find it marked "solved".
I'm sure many users are assuming a corrupt rar file and redownloading repeatedly and/or complaining about the uiploader, or thinking JD is broken.

I suggest this fix be put into a normal update.
It's not really "solved" until that is done. Or at least change the error message to say what the problem is and how to fix it.

Hi

in other threads, tickets regarding this topic are linked.

It is not yet released because the new version of the library is not yet out (as far as I know).

The development of sevenzipjbinding looks pretty dead, most likely jd is the only thing using it.

The RAR5 library is no longer beta as it is working fine since several years. We're in contact with boris, the developer of the library and he is working on updated version.
Once this version is ready we will include in update so you don't have to do it manually.
We don't include the current RAR5 library because we don't have compiled version for all required systems and also don't want to waste lots of traffic when the next version is near.
