Error installing update
I have been getting an error trying to update jdownloader2 for the past 3 days. The error details say the following:

java.io.IOException: Cannot overwrite C:\Users\user1\AppData\Local\JDownloader v2.0\tmp\update\self\JDU\libs\laf\synthetica.jar
something blocks the Update. I suggest to close JDownloader. Remove the Core.jar file and delete the update folder and do a fresh update to latest available version

I did as recommended and it worked for a while. Now the error has returned. I tried doing the same thing again, but the fix does not work this time. The error details say the following now:
org.jdownloader.update.SelfUpdateException: java.io.IOException: Cannot overwrite C:\Users\user1\AppData\Local\JDownloader v2.0\tmp\update\self\JDU\libs\laf\syntheticaJDCustom.jar at org.jdownloader.update.SelfUpdateClient.finishSelfUpdate(SelfUpdateClient.java:296) at org.jdownloader.update.UpdateManager.runFinishSelfUpdate(UpdateManager.java:1089) at org.jdownloader.update.DefaultCallbackHandler.onResults(DefaultCallbackHandler.java:349) at org.jdownloader.update.UpdateManager.runUpdateLoop(UpdateManager.java:1514) at org.jdownloader.update.UpdateManager$4.run(UpdateManager.java:439) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.io.IOException: Cannot overwrite C:\Users\user1\AppData\Local\JDownloader v2.0\tmp\update\self\JDU\libs\laf\syntheticaJDCustom.jar at org.appwork.utils.IO.copyFile(IO.java:94) at org.appwork.utils.IO.copyFile(IO.java:83) at org.appwork.utils.IO.copyFile(IO.java:79) at org.jdownloader.update.SelfUpdateClient.move(SelfUpdateClient.java:166) at org.jdownloader.update.SelfUpdateClient.finishSelfUpdate(SelfUpdateClient.java:217) ... 5 more |

again same cause. something blocks update (firewall or av).
close JD and make sure all JDownloader processes are gone (or kill them) and then try again. In case it still does not work, please contact us via support@jdownloader.org so we can do a teamviewer session

This happens every time the app tries to update, is it really the only way to go through the process shown above to fix this ? This never used to happen and I have always had the same AV ?
Thanks |

Does it really happen EVERY time? because since 15.3 there have been many many many updates?

Happens absolutely every time - I followed the actions shown above, and it works that once, but then get error on next update. I suspect this is JRE loaded which is causing this error - going to try killing that next time and retry update. Will let you all know.
EDIT - that worked - now have a work around :-) |

What exactly do you do? What is your workaround?

I would like to do a teamviewer session with you so we can check this and find the cause/solution for this. Please contact us via support@jdownloader.org

This is really a workaround and a sign that something with your setup is not okay. The offer with teamviewer is still available

Thanks Dev/Admin, to set this up with my firewall/AV would probably be more trouble than just using the work around warrants. Thank you for the offer and for the great support.
