Best quality by default!
Hello,
how about making all of the available plugins grab "best video quality available" by default? There are lots of plugins and even if somebody uses only couple of them it makes it a lot of work to mark every checkbox in the settings. |

@woolf: It's sort of "hen egg problem". with *best video quality available* as default, users will look for help/ways to change this to desired behaviour/quality.
Without users like you will look for ways/help for the opposite Can you please name some sites/plugins and we'll look into it. I'm asking because there is no generic handling for this and each plugin has different support/handling

Here is how it currently is:
Some plugins will prefer best by default. Some will return all qualities by default. Some have quality settings, some don't. Some of those that have a quality settings even have more advanced settings e.g. the YT plugin, arte.tv, biqle.ru. Here is my opinion: While the current inconsistent behavior is far from ideal there is multiple factors to consider: - Does a quality selection make sense at all e.g. how many ppl do use a particular plugin - Does a website always provide a static set of qualities for every video or can that vary? - What to use as a fallback if e.g. user selected qualities are not available? In my opinion, default behavior should be (as it is now) to either prefer the best or return all qualities. Why that? A lot of users will otherwise maybe never see the ability of JD to e.g. download multiple qualities thus I like the "return all by default and let user customize/deselect unwanted stuff in plugin settings"-way. Current example of me testing some new ideas regarding quality selection and fallback on bad user quality settings: arte.tv plugin -psp-
