Default **HUGE** Youtube video won't download

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

(Content warning: PG-13.)

I stumbled on this and was curious how big it was (it's a 10 *HOUR* video!!!) so I grabbed the link to see what JDownloader said about it. Nothing. Paste the link in, the screen blinks, nothing.

I finally figure out that JDownloader thinks the video is unavailable.

(Why anyone would actually want 10 hours of it I can't imagine.)

No, this is a different problem. JDownloader is willing to select (I haven't tried downloading) other Youtube videos. I have since figured out the file is over 5gb, I suspect that's barfing it.

Exclamation Linkgrabber Youtube issues

Hi,

The linkgrabber refuses to pick up the following three youtube urls:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** (alternate link of the 1st link)
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

However, the linkgrabber works just fine for other videos. Example:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Could anyone provide some insight into the issue? I have noticed the linkgrabber exhibiting this unusual behavior whereby some youtube url's work while others don't.

Thanks in advance!

Same problem here. Yesterday had JD grabbed all the links and today I have to start the grabber with every link seperated. I tried to restart JD or uncheck and recheck the Linkgrabber again but nothing worked. Bit of annoying.
I have to say that no youtube url works, no picture url works, no dropbox url works. The Linkgrabber don't want to work alone anymore.

Hi William, just tested a chrome extension. It seems to download youtube just fine, just like jdownloader did back when it worked. Back to business as usual

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...gcjfg?hl=en-GB

The download button appears in the video info's page down below as a button, even has options to pick out .flv's and .mp4's at 360/480/720/1080p

Now if only someone from the jdownloader dev team could figure this out...

Raz, thanks for the reply. When did youtube implement this streaming format?

I'm not entirely convinced by this explanation as I've been having this linkgrabber youtube issue for a while, this is the first time I decided to seek the jdownloader boards out and have my say. I would date this issue back to a year or two ago, before Jdownloader 2 even got released.

I also find the strict vevo/studio release explanation odd as I had the very same issue on regular videos from ordinary users...

Hey smoky151, the newish streaming format started on June 14.

I know because I'm the threadstater. Downloading from VEVO is a daily affair for me.

Default Some Youtube urls are not recognized by JD

OS: Windows 7 x64
Java version: 7 Update 25
JD version: 2.0 beta
JD Core version: #21458
JD Update version: Tue Jun 25:08:31:17 CEST 2013

Hello,
my problem is if I try to copy directly some Youtube urls those are not recognized in JD youtube plugin,
also if I try to add the urls manually using the JD option to add urls it don't found anything inside the urls to download, so JD don't find any video to download in my youtube urls.

This only happens with some youtube urls, not for all the youtube urls, is a little strange but I assume is a bug.

If you need a log please first tell me the filename of the log to know eich file is, sorry.

PS: Sorry 'cause my english.

This are the urls (Any of them are recognized by my JD):

the new format will not be supported, if you read the whole issue (I invite you to do so), you will see that the one of the new formats will youtube not supported by JD2, as it is protected by German law, therefore, JD2 not be an illegal program ... developers always respect the legislation ....

Excuse my English.
hi i am very happy Jdowloader user to this last week.
I could not download videos from some channels.
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Jdowloader can not download the file. I thought it was my country, but to try Video Download Capture in trial version, I download all videos without problems until i test time outdated.

-I try Video Download Capture 4.3.0, same problem Jdowloader.

-I tried with RealPlayer, download a video file that you can use. No leaves play nor convert any of my programs (Sony Vegas, Total video converter, Video Download Capture 4.3.0).

-After reading in this forum thread DOWNLOAD Freemake Video Downloader.
All videos have been able to download without any problem.

Please Jdowloader lords, fix the problem ASAP.
If you can download yotube videos with Freemake Video Downloader and not my dear Jdowloader updated as of today. I'll have to stop using it?

IDM can download all the VEVO videos and IDM is too legal as JD... And they have done the right thing, it's stupid now to hear that some German people consider it illegal to download youtube videos, and IDM know that is so stupid.

...¿Really the JD team are going to stand idly by without adding support for these videos in any aspect?

Thanks for the reply, now that I have a solid answer, I can definitely say that my issue is unrelated to the vevo restrictions as I first noticed this issue a year or two ago, back even before JD2 was in existence. I also noticed it happening on videos from REGULAR users, this was a while back where youtube used the old channel formats and everybody had a standard layout.

I don't really understand why my thread was chucked in here but oh well. ? Its also odd that my JD2 got contaminated with the vevo restriction update as I run it from a virtual machine so the application never quits and auto-updates are disabled. To date that session of JD has been running since last year lol.

R.I.P jdownloader - you were good while it worked, thanks for the memories.

For anyone else struggling with my issue / vevo links, get a chrome extension youtube downader, I posted a url to it a few posts above in a reply to william.

JD basic function is to download files, and now JD is a download manager which refuses to support download from one of the most big (and free) services (Youtube).

I only use JD to download from Youtube and from uploaded.to, since JD can't download VEVO clips I'm in the need to abandon the use of this application maybe like a lot of users who don't want to keep installed 50 applications in the pc to do the same thing 'cause for example 1 APP to download from Youtube and other APP to download from "X" site and etc..., now I need to keep IDM to download from each site and uninstall JD.

Anyways JD was the best download manager untill the day 14 of this month.

Thanks for read.

You're welcome.

Google occasionally breaks all sort of YouTube downloaders for years. My fave MacTubes cannot even view VEVO videos now.

However, they are alternatives for Firefox and Chrome. Safari, has to go through some work around.

jDownloader is still a great app. Hope, the makers find a work around soon. Could learn a few things from some YouTube web browser extensions.

Some of you guys don't seem to understand it:

Why is it us who broke something when google changes how youtube works?
We do not have the manpower and time to implement such changes immediately, is this really so hard to understand?
Comeon...

Clearly pointed out dat Google breaks YouTube downloads from time to time. Not sure others read it carefully.

Most simple users of software will simply blame the software and its vendor. Quite common.

it is Google (which owns YouTube) that prevents jDownloader from downloading selected videos.

Default Solution

Hey,
After looking around everywhere, and trying many firefox/chrome extensions that did not work on new/vevo videos, i found one that did.
It's a greasemonkey script from userscripts.org called "Download YouTube Videos as MP4" by gantt.
Enjoy..

Please be fair to the makers of jDownloader.

Google is constantly making changes to cripple YouTube downloads for selected titles. I was using Firefox extension Download YouTube Videos as MP4 and Google it broke yesterday. Since the vendor has the time, the extension is updated today to restore functionality. If you guys can't wait, go use this extension.

Even the paid Wondershare AllMyTube has problems with Google's changes.

The more resilient downloader is Jaksta. But it costs 50 bucks!

FYI, jDownloader is free and the makers work on it when they have the time. Give them a break.

Yeah there seems to be an on-going war between live content streaming and ripping. Its also ironic that a google chrome has extensions that download these vevo videos just fine so ...

1. Either the JD developers have been lying to us all and cooked up a big steaming pile of good old horse shit or
2. Google want monopoly of the entire internets, even going as far as allowing extensions on their own browser to rip the very content that their trying to protect.

Funny what the world is coming to Learning to hack rtmp was fun for me.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: R.I.P Jdownloader, you were once useful. Now that your creators have abandoned you, you will be sent to a random museum as a derelict scrap heap.

Stripping Jdownloader of its very purpose that it was designed for - I see no more use for a bloated resource intensive app. Its almost hilarious at how hard the JD staff justify the use of such an app in this day and age.

Default Since Update Youtube Links Not Working for VEVO Videos...

Hi,

I was kind of bad updating Jdownloader and had over 400 updates to apply.

I ran them and now up to date.

Since them, I can no longer download videos from Youtube that are from VIVO.

Other youtube videos appear in Jdownloader fine, when I copy the URL. Any from VIVO videos do not appear in the LinkGrabber section.

Have they put any protection in the URL or has Jdownloader been forced to exclude these videos?

Anyone seeing the same?:w00t:

Thanks

Again:
We have not changed ANYTHING

Changes were done by youtube.

If you know any working method to download such videos, tell us so maybe we can implement it in JD.
