1.Your example link is blocked in Germany.
2.It's not about VEVO!
It's about the fact that youtime sometimes uses a new streaming technology which JD cannot handle yet!

I usually use JD to see all sources and grab the 720 or 1080 if its there.

Understand its a youtube thing :-)

Be interesting to see how 'mirror' method works or another way to expose the mp4 url.

If YT have just changed, it will be the same for all downloaders you would of thought. JD is the best though! Sure it will get sorted.

OK just to confirm, for what its worth that
FreeMake Video Downloader is , for example, able to download any chosen format of this VEVO YTube sample that for me , previously JD could not

I'm in the UK if that is of any help.

If at least we have a reliable alternative for these, that will take the pressure off the JD guys while they work on the issue.

This worked for me today for 3 (of 3) VEVO videos that I tried that JDownloader couldn't handle. Not sure how the extension works, or if it's something that would be applicable. I'm in the US fwiw.

I'm not sure if the MP3 "conversion" feature of the extension works the same way as JDownloader's (does JDownloader demux the original audio stream?). The extension gives you a 128kbps MP3, so if the audio stream in the FLV videos that have an MP3 soundtrack are usually less than 128kbps, I guess it means it's re-encoding it from somewhere.

there is no "new streaming format" or "chunck streaming". youtube just changed the signature method for some videos (mainly VEVO). it is pretty easy to get it working again.

we know... and it's been fixed you just need to wait for plugin updates to take place

the new streaming format is actually present (it downloads in segments), but you can still trigger the old download method if you have the correct sig.

It does not work with mine.

@sugarsugar If you are using JD 0.9.581 you need to wait for the next update. If you are using JD2 please post the example links and the log.

This morning, all of my Youtube Vevo cannot be downloaded, the status is fatal error. When I try to take the new link from Youtube Vevo Iron Maiden Music Video, it cannot be decrypted in the linkgrabber starting this morning 31 August 2013. Thanks.

I recommend using JD2 as updates do not come fast enough with older releases

update should be out for JD2.

Freemake has now overcome this issue. At first they were downloading some and it was slow as hell, now they download all and it's back to full speed.

Yep, on a daily basis. And it appears people are still having issues, as am I. Any fix besides obtaining 3rd party software??? you say it was fixed ages ago but people have been having RECENT issues.

Without 3rd part software? That isn't what you asked before.

i apologize, i re-read my post and i did indicate "alternatives". however I was under the impression that freemake is full of spyware and endorsed by spammers. I was implying alternatives to what has already been listed (3rd party software is fine, but anything proven reputable other than freemake???) . sorry for the misunderstanding. You guys are doing a great job, we're all trying to win the same mission here.

Sorry but I have to defend Freemake here.
I use their toole (or is it just one of theirs) to convert video files.
The installation of Freemake contains loads of Adware but you can disable it so nothing but Freemake itself will be installed!

As PSZP says it is potentially very useful
and I was the one recommending it as a workaround, having never used it before this issue came up.
Your aversion to using it, (if JD2 doesn't work for some videos) is irrational.

Otherwise post a YT vid that doesn't work for you and someone will try it.

There is adware that comes with the installation but you can untick it and you're not forced to install any adware when installing Freemake.
