I can report the same. Google Drive is tricky according to the thread from the last time it broke.

Friends. I'm not able to download anything from google drive by jdowloader, it always gives the following message: "an error has occurred". Does anyone know what could be happening? By the google chrome browser I have no problems.

Please either wait for the next CORE-update or add an API-key to JD to make it work.

This does not work in my case. I have had an API key in JDownloader the whole time and it still throws the "plugin outdated" errors. The files are public and can be downloaded through a browser without issue. I am eager to try the new version to see if this resolves the issue.

I found a temporary alternative fix for this issue. If you go to connection manager and add working proxies, GDRIVE links will download again. This is working prior to updating past the Jan 10th version. However, this only worked for a few files before stopping again.

I got a status message like

"Access Not Configured. Drive API has not been used in project 386721244048 before or it is disabled. Enable it by visiting **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** then retry. If you enabled this API recently, wait a few minutes for the action to propagate to our systems and retry."

So I went to the URL and enabled it. The API method is working now but it seemed to have to do with "enabling" Google Drive API for your project.

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Now I get a quota reached with the API key method.

Please read the previous posts in this thread especially my reply #13.
The error you get sounds as if you've made a mistake during API access configuration.
I'm sorry for not providing more detailed instructions but Google is changing the layout of their developer console so frequently that it doesn't make any sense to add instructions with screenshots they will be outdated within a few weeks.

Then you will probably run into the same issue without using the API...or can you download these files fine via browser?
Can you download the file without being logged in into a google account (try in a private browser tab)?
Please provide a log and example URLs.

As explained adding an API key will fix/work around this issue without the need of said update.

I've found the cause:
At this moment, whenever a Google Account is present, API will only be used for linkchecking but for downloading, website will be used even if API key is available.
This "makes sense" because at this moment it is only possible to use the API "anonymously" so at this moment the benefit of using an account to prevent running into "Quota reached" issues has a higher priority than using the API.

I will think about a more understandable default handling for this.
Until then, you can avoid these issues by disabling or removing your google accounts in JD.
This will force the plugin to always use the API!

The next CORE-updates will contain more settings about how JD should behave when an API key is available.
Also, by default, it will use only the API even when an account is available (because...that's what you would expect as a user when entering an API key).

Until then all you have to do to force JD to use the API is to disable/remove your google account if you added one to JD.

With just the API key and no account linked I get the Quota Limit Reached instantly:

To sum up the problem:
Files which are both quota limited and "too big for Google Drive virus scan" cannot be downloaded via API (login required) and website handling for those is broken -> There is no workaround for those - you will have to wait for the update to be able to download such files again!
