Hi, JD2 is now unable to download from niconico if the video is uploaded after 20 Feb 2024. Videos uploaded on/before 20 Feb are still fine.

If it's a public video, It says "Try restarting this link (plugin oudated?)

If it's a member link, it says "Skipped Account is missing"

I guess they have changed their video server during the week?

That is normal as long as you did not add a nicovideo account to JDownloader.

As far as I can see, they're using split audio/video HLS streaming now.
This would mean that downloads via JDownloader will not work until this feature gets added.

I've added a nicovideo account + do have membership and I got that message, but again, only membership videos uploaded after 20 Feb. So I guess it's the same issue and membership is irrelevant.

Yap the issue is not account related.
More bad news:
The new streams are DRM encrypted so even if the technical requirements to download them via JD would be given, german laws would prohibit us to allow us to provide download functionality for such streams.
Search for "DRM protected" in our forums to find out more about this topic.

For these reasons I've marked this thread as "Declined".

Update

Looks like by now, all of their items (also older videos) are DRM encrypted which means they can't be downloaded via JDownloader anymore.
I've updated JDownloader to display the following error message for such nicovideo items:
"DRM_PROTECTED_AND_UNSUPPORTED_STREAMING_TYPE_HLS_SPLIT_AUDIO_VIDEO"
