[Not a JD bug] Facebook reels - filenames too long for Windows
This problem started happening within the last few updates. When I copy a link to a reel video, LinkGrabber creates the filenames and folders with some long names. If the comments in the video are long, the folders/filenames combination can go over the 250 or so character limit under Windows OS. JD has no problem with it, but it screws up Windows Explorer when working with the downloaded files.
Before the updates, the folders and filenames only consisted of the date of the posting followed by the name of the page followed by a long numeric value. Example: 2024-03-04_PageName_739366607951548.mp4 Now with JD updated, the same video is grabbed with this name: https_shope ee_8KRGjVfqRk _PageName · Original audio - 739366607951548.mp4 |

Hi,
1. Please provide example URLs and a log. The Facebook video plugin hasn't been touched for several months so we are not at fault. Either Facebook has changed something or that video simply had a really long title. 2. Problems with too long filenames are usually not JD problems. Use Packagizer rules to auto-shorten the filenames or wait for the release of our next major update which will come with an auto filename shortening feature. Important notice: Our ticket system & knowledgebase are currently under maintenance. If this is still the case while you are reading my posts and you can't access help articles linked by our staff, use the Internet archive/wayback machine to be able to view those articles: archive.org/web/ Enter the URL -> Click on "Browse history" -> Select one of the latest dates available If the date you selected does not lead you to the support article try the next oldest one.

The filenames themselves do not look to be too long, at least not all of them.
To mitigate this proble, here is what you can do: 1. Disable "subfolder by package name" setting to shorten the overall path-length (this is only applied to items that are added after changing that setting!).: https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...ackage-feature 2. Either configure Windows to allow "unlimited" path length or use a Packagizer to shorten the filenames. I've explained both possible solutions here: https://board.jdownloader.org/showth...428#post531428 Important notice: Our ticket system & knowledgebase are currently under maintenance.
