Default Browser Web Extension not sending downloads to JDownloader

Hello everyone,

Recently, I was looking for a way to conveniently send links to JDownloader, so I setup my configuration my My JDownloader which works great.

I looked into the Browser Extensions and I installed and tested on both Chrome and Edge browsers. https://my.jdownloader.org/apps/

I am able to login to the extension, and even see my JDownloader instance and seemingly connect to it, but the problem is - all of the links I try to send don't seem to work!

Essentially, the setup piece seems to work at least from what it looks like on my end, and it even appears that links send - but clearly they don't or something is happening in the middle of things.

Just wanted to pass this along - and I can try to provide more information or troubleshoot if necessary - thanks!

@boktai1000: The extension simply doesn't support this feature. There is another 3rd party extension for this, that intercept downloads from browser and forward to JDownloader. Normally you should not initiate downloads by yourself but only add the links and let JDownloader do the rest. It's a planned feature for next version/extension

Okay, interesting. If you don't mind me asking, what does the Browser Extension actually do currently? I'll be looking forward to the next version or extension then - thank you very much for the prompt reply!

@boktai1000: the extension can be used to intercept ClickAndLoad from websites and forward to JDownloader. Also you can add links from websites via rightclick context menu or add clipboard content. Also start/stop downloads. And most important, it is required in order to handle captcha challenges like Recaptcha or HCaptcha.

hello.. i think this user was running into the same issue that i have now. i have jdownloader running on my nas with myjd enabled, connected. in my chrome browser on my laptop i have the official jdownloader chrome extension installed and its seeing my nas jd. when i right click on a link and send to JD, it counts down, and the check mark appears. but no link shows up in my JD linkgrabber. tried this with direct lan connection enabled and without.

i tried from firefox and firefox extension on this same laptop and everything works as expected and the link shows up in linkgrabber.

seems like a chrome based browser (extension) issue as i tried with latest version of chrome and latest version of Arc browser.

is this a known issue?

@yeehaa: just tested and working fine here. on what link are you doing this? have you tested with *normal* links as well? I'm asking because maybe the link is different in chrome than in firefox. is the link shown in popup correct?

good call on the difference in the links. please see attachments. one from chrome where i dont see the link in the pop up, but the name is nicely formatted. this never gets to JD even after showing the check mark. the second from firefox, where the whole link is shown and it gets sent to JD.

firefox:

@yeehaa: thanks for the feedback! Yes, most likely this is the cause as wrong content is selected/added. unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the issue with chrome and website in question. what version/os are you using? have you checked if maybe other extensions cause issues?

latest chrome, firefox and myjdownloader extensions on an intel mac 14.4.1. could you please let me know which other extension i can try out to see whether the same kind of issue comes up?

and the site does not have to be that. this happens everywhere. i just picked that site because there are always fresh never used links when i open up the site. i also tried disabling every other extension and userscript on chrome. still the same result. i didnt have to disable anything on firefox even though i have pretty much the same extensions on both.

@yeehaa: will have to test on macOS, might be different on that machine. have you tried with profile that has no other extensions activated?
