Default Media folder is empty

On dJ2 the subfolders do not show up, in the media folder, why is that? Please, do see the screenshot.

@maanvol: How did you install JDownloader?
see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...load-directory

If you're running JD on Linux and have installed it via community package stores Snap or Flatpak you probably ran into a permission issue as both are limiting folder access.

I did install it via the terminal on linux mint.
sudo apt install snapd
sudo snap install jdownloader2

jd2 works all right on the internal HDD, but on the external USB-disk, jd2 does not see it on the media folder; so how do I change the permissions for jd2 to notice the sub-folders on the media folder? Thanks, so much, for your help.

It has nothing to do with JDownloader. the snap package permission restricts the application from accessing the folders. only whitelisted folders can be seen/reached. You either have to modify the permission of the snap package with other tools/by hand or install JDownloader with our official installer, see https://jdownloader.org/download/index
Also see askubuntu.com/questions/1033344/how-to-give-snaps-access-to-somedir

Edit: this might work, see filebot.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5139
should be

sudo snap connect jdownloader2:removable-media

I've added this hint to our troubleshooting article about error Invalid download directory.
