Default Disable clipboard monitoring and auto-start?

As I found out JD2 seems to monitor the clipboard.

Occasionally when I paste something (text) into clipboard JD2 tells me "Parse Clipboard - Found ....".

When I open then "LinkGrabber" tab some unknown stuff is listed.

I don't want such "over-smart" monitoring.

JD2 should only grab DLC container or "Click'n load" calls. Thats all.

How can I achieve this?

Peter

Disable the brown "note" sign in the toolbar.

Not exactly solved.

I disabled the "note" in the toolbar, but an unwanted entry from the clipboard still shows up in the "Add New Links" dialog box.

Do I have to restart JD2 in order for this to stop what it is doing?

try to use the linkgrabber filter, in order to filter the links that you don't want

The problem with doing that is if I do want to download YouTube videos via JD2, it will preclude my adding them, now that I know JD2 can do YouTube videos.

So, is this a bug?

If you click on "Add links" JD will always show the content of your clipboard in there.
Why should this be a bug?
In this state, no links are ADDED automatically...only if you add them!

Because it should only bring in NEW clipboard content. Once the clipboard content was dropped into the Analyze and Add Links dialog box, it shouldn't drop it in again. JD2 should keep track of the clipboard content and if it changes, then it should be brought in.

That's just it. Because the clipboard content is dropped into the dialog box, I have to delete that content, otherwise it will be parsed and added to the download list when I click on Continue. In essence, the clipboard link is added automatically, unless I do something about it.

There should be an option to not add clipboard content. There are times I'll put something into the clipboard which has nothing to do with downloading, yet it will appear in the dialog box. I do not want that "feature."

Please, give us an option to turn it off.

So you want to have an option tu turn off that the content of the clipboard is shown in the "analyze links" field?
Its kinda weird because in order to add links, you'll also copy them, right?!
...or do you open the analyze window, then see the old stuff in there, then copy the links you actually want to add, then clean the input field first, then paste the new stuff in?

This conversation has made be dig a little further into what I do everyday on my Fedora Linux system.

I only use the clipboard when I need a link from a webpage, if the URL isn't the actual text on the page, which is the case for stuff from YouTube.

Otherwise, with X, highlighting text puts it into a buffer, which I can then drop with the middle mouse button. Something that can never be done with M$.

I have a text file of URLs that I am interesting in downloading. When the text file is open, if I double-click on a URL, it is placed into the mouse buffer. When I then want to get it analyzed, I just drop it with the middle mouse button. But, the clipboard content is always being placed there as well.

So, I have to delete the clipboard content before dropping the mouse buffer content.

Now, here is where I've done some digging. I don't remember when it started, but placing the cursor over text that is a URL results in the text being underlined. I just double-clicked on the text if I wanted it elsewhere. I did a right click while hovering over the URL and see that there is an option to copy the link address, just as if I were doing the same operation in a browser. That operation will now place that content into the analyzer portion of the link dialog box, because it was placed into the clipboard and not the mouse buffer.

Blame this on my three decades of highlighting text to put the text into the buffer. Double-clicking on text is faster than right-clicking on the text and then having to select the option to save it into the clipboard.

For M$ users, having an option to turn off clipboard dropping would be useless as everything has to go into the clipboard. Only Unix/Linux has two buffers. A buddy of mine who has a Mac only does the standard Mac copying and pasting. He's never tried to see what happens with a URL in a text file. While the Mac is BSD Unix, it does not use X (unless you want it to).

So, while having the option to turn off clipboard dropping would be nice, it seems that I'm probably the only one that would ever use it, being the old fart that I am and set in my ways. :D

Now, with all of the above said. I tried a little test to see wht would happen if I turned on the "note" button and did a right-click save link in the text file. The link autograb did take the URL, parse it and place the link into the LinkGrabber list. That I do find useful.

I learned something today. It is a good day when you learn something new.

Quote from coalado regarding the next core update:
Quote:
1. Added Advanced Option "LinkgrabberSettings: Auto Fill Add Links Dialog With Clipboard Content"
2. The Textfield Autoselects all on focus. That means: when you click into the field and start typing, the old text gets overwritten.
