Default JDownloader on Linux creating files with root only file permissions

Hi,

Installed JD2 on a fresh Linux Mint 20 box.

Not sure why, but the files JD produces are root only permission, i.e. unusable and not normal file creation!

I'm having to manually change ownership to user:user to be able to use the downloaded files.

Am happy to help give more info to try to work this out.

Thanks

file permissions are inherent of the user that runs the program. AKA don't run JD as root.

if you have rc or crontab scripts, make sure the correct user executes

Ah, solved it:

What I did wrong was to execute the installer with 'sudo'. That created the all installed program files with root permissions only and in the /opt/ folder.

This time I ran installer like this:

Code:
sh ./JD2Setup_x64.sh

...and it's back to normal!

BTW a little tip on how to execute the installer just below the download link might be helpful to others?

Seems like most of all users are doing it right.

If you see this as a problem, we could add it to one of our help articles on support.jdownloader.org
