So let me get this straight... It is supposed to be working now?? On my end I still can't download any videos which require login and cookies. I'm still getting "temporarily unavailable" on these. What am I doing wrong?

I've noticed that JDownloader has a problem with some playlists when it is trying to get more than the first 100 videos from them, resulting in a "Plugin defect" error, and not a single video from that list parsed.

This would be somewhat manageable, if restricting the playlist/channel crawler max limit to "100" circumvented the issue (I often have it set to "-1"), but it doesn't for playlists where one or more of the first 100 videos are skipped (as a duplicate).

I found that out by changing the crawler max limit around and noticing that an affected list with 1 duplicate video would work for crawler max limit 99, but not 100. And as mentioned, crawler set to "-1" fails on even more lists.

As you can imagine, when downloading a lot of playlists, many of them will have removed/deleted/duplicate videos, and thus will fail because of this.


Or is that something that only happens for me? I just updated my JDownloader before posting this, so I do have the current version.

I've also updated to the latest version just before trying again, it still didn't work.

I've noticed since then that the "plugin defect" error only occurs when I add my YT account to JDownloader, but doesn't occur if I have no account added.

So it might be related to the latest shenanigans regarding that.

I have noticed a problem with adding variants. Video in question, the only one that exhibits the problem so far for me:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** (v=Ki8BLLnWyJY)

Load it, go to the subtitle file, choose to add additional Variants. Expected: a window appears. Actual result: nothing happens.

I have kept this for several hours and restarts, no changes.

That said, there are still the following issues:

1. The initial selected language is random. If you add the same video repeatedly, you will get multiple copies, because each one gets a different language (at least in my case. See the next point).
2. It's hard to know when you need to select a different language. I worked around this by setting the package name to *LNG[DISPLAY]* - *VIDEO_NAME* and then I hopefully notice it in the list, but it's not a guarantee, and even then I need to open the package in the list to get to the video and select the actual variant.

Both of these could be solved by using the default language or a user preference.

Overall, this is definitely good as a first version and I don't expect that this will be improved soon. I understand it depends on what people want to work on. I don't know if and when I would able to help further other than making suggestions. At least I did help move it along.

Du hattest einen nicht unterstützten Bilderhoster verwendet, wodurch die Einbettung _nichts_ angezeigt hat.

Looks like your link goes to a non-existing playlist with a single video_id inside that URL.
If you want JD to add that single video, choose "Only video" in the dialog when adding this link.

I'am unsure how this could be handled better aka add only the single video if the playlist fails.
EDIT

I've implemented just that:
If processing a playlist fails but there is a single videoID available inside the added URL, that video will be added instead.

Oh! That was exactly it. I was using an old Opera browser that I had set aside specifically for getting YT / GDrive cookies for JDownloader that I didn't actually use otherwise so that the cookies wouldn't expire.

Using a different browser (Edge, with the same plugin) immediately fixed it. Thanks!

(The old Opera was Version:73.0.3856.284, using the plugin "**External links are only visible to Support Staff**EditThisCookie")

Ok thanks after checking it is set to private and yeah that would explain why JDownloader and you can't see it. Will set it public and see if that works

Edit: Went ahead and set it to Unlisted and that seems to have done the trick.

Hi, never had problems downloading YouTube videos using JD2 until now. I'm consistently getting a 500 error. I know you're on top of it so I'm not gonna add a complaint.

So for the moment, I'll be using yt-dlp. But I wanted to ask if you can recommend the best yt-dlp [OPTIONS] to use that best simulates the way JD2 downloads YouTube videos?

I have always used JD2 to download YouTube videos, but it seems to have stopped working recently.

The linkgrabber still finds all the files ok, but when I start the download, the status shows as 'file not found'. (see screenshots)

What happened? How can I fix this?

My examples are just regular YT videos, not requiring a login or age restricted. But they are not working. I have tried several and none of them will download the video.

For example, this video **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
JD2 downloads the text files (description and SRT) and an image file, but it can't download the .m4a audio or the .webm video file. It reports "file not found"
