Default Jdownloader is the most frustrating program I've ever seen

It's really a shame there is no alternative in dealing with direct downloads (if there is, PLEASE tell me). I've never given bad reviews to open source software, but this program is really way beyond salvation, I think it's deliberately programed to screw you.

I'm suffering this program for several years (since release) in several computers, so it's not hardware or version related, it's just the way it is a broken program, not only with the most clunky interface since Windows 3.11, but it has the ability to screw you in the most critical situations.

My last "experience" with this """"""program"""""" (not the worst, just the last):

-I try to download some files from Putlocker
-"Extension not updated" or some bull**** error like that in each link
-I update everything, in Jdownloader and in Jdownloader Update
-Still the same error
-Reboot and reupdate
-Still the same error
-Reinstall
-Client downloading at 1999 speeds (6 kb/s)
-When the download finishes, after more than 2 hours for 24 Mb client, it does absolutely nothing (just like I didn't install a thing)
-Reinstall
-Client downloading at 2002 speeds (15 kb/s)
-When the download finishes, after more than 1 hour for 24 Mb client, it does absolutely nothing (just like I didn't install a thing)

I don't want help, just an alternative to this program, or this program fixed to at least the point of being able to install it, thanks.

Maybe you are using JD 0.9.581, try to use JD 2 (beta). You can download it, below of this post, in my signature.

Also check if your antivirus and/or firewall is not blocking JDownloader.exe, JDownloader.jar, Java.exe, Javaw.exe.

Yeah I was using 0.9.581, it was supposed to be the most "stable"... I just got JD2b and at least it installs when you install it, I can't check now if it works because I had to manually download the hundreds of links I wanted to avoid downloading one by one (work issues).

Thanks for the help, please ask if there was a recent update in 0.9.581 able to break it, I just properly installed JD2b with no changes whatsoever (no changes in firewall, antivirus, software, not even a reboot). I really hope 2.0 version fixes all the previous flaws.

Answer of a developer (jiaz):
Quote:
bad speed does not come from jdownloader. it does not limit/influence
speed at all. check firewall/av.
hoster plugins can break and will break.
provide better bugreports/screenshots or JD2 logfiles
