How do I know if I run JD 32bit or 64bit?
So my old installation is running 32bit I assume, but I installed JD2 again from the adware free x86x64 installer for Windows but I don't see any hint that I now got a 64 bit version running anywhere.
How do I make sure to have the 64 bit one? Right now I run my 32 bit one with -Xmx1024m. More seems not to be possible (does not start then) but this is way too little for my JD and it's constantly at max memory, so I want to give it some GB more RAM. Thanks. |

Use 64 bit java binary to run it with 64bit java When you reinstall JDownloader 64bit version, then it will use a 64bit java version as well.
I can try to help get your JDownloader running with a Teamviewer session. Contact me via support@jdownloader.org and send me ID and PW

I just use the JDownloader2.exe so start it (and changed the memory part in JDownloader2.vmoptions). Or do you mean simply running JD via the JDownloader.jar (aka c:\...\java.exe -jar c:\...\jdownloader.jar -xmx2048m ...)? Anyway, according to the taskmanager the old JD is *32 and the new one is not marked (thus x64), so at least I know now how to see what version is used. So can I somehow force the old installation to use 64 bit (with the way above or another one) or just migrate cfg/cfg2 folder to the new installation? Thanks |

JDownloader uses its own java, yes. In case you your system is 64bit, then JDownloader will use a 64bit java.
Yes, modifying the .vmoptions File is the correct way You can force old installation by starting it manually with c:\...java.exe -jar... The problem is that a 32bit launcher cannot use 64bit java. Java and Launcher needs the same bitness. or you simply migrate the cfg folder, correct

I found out JD offers an export/import for settings so I used this and imported them to the new installation.
The old one then was a several year old from my old PC I guess and only 32bit because of that. Thanks for your answers. Everything works as expected now, and JD can use more RAM |
