no it does not
1.) the downloaded files are still scanned when written to disk
2.) the howto for kapsersky is from kaspersky itself!
3.) there is nothing for us to do here, its kaspersky having issues with java (known issues)

Smile Socket Timeout error-it IS Java!

Hello folks, I also use KIS (2011) and had exactly the same prob. Could not solve it until I read this and decided to exclude the jawaw.exe file following the suggested steps. The prob immediately disappeared. Thank you SO much!:):):)

This virus has been developed elsewhere. If you can't find support for it, please un-install it and jD will work without issues.

I have just started using JDownloader and almost immediately received the "Socket Timeout: read timed out" message. I'd only be able to download about 12MB before the download stopped.

My initial "work around" was to start the download and then pause it. Then I increased the "pause" speed from the default 10 to 210. This worked but I wasn't satisfied.

I then increased the "Timeout and Connection Loss settings from 100,000 to 110,000. This didn't make any noticeable difference.

I'm using Windows 7 and aVast anti-virus.

I then installed Internet Download Manager (IDM) and attempted a download. This was successful. So I realised the problem was with JDownloader and my system.

I opened aVast and went to the Web Shield option. I then click on the Expert Settings button and de-selected Enable Web Scanning and Scan Traffic from Well-Known Browser Processes Only
JDownloader is now working correctly.
