Default JD2 vs. JD

I'm not sure why JD developers STILL prompt others to upgrade to JD2 despite all the criticism? Other than a possibly VALID excuse: that JD (orig.) is too difficult to modify (too much work writing code). If this is the reason, please say so in order to avoid confusion. We understand that the JD project is free/open-source and JD developers owe the user base nothing.

Expect when you lose trust and reputation and respect ... open-source/non-profit/free or not, those attributes are priceless. And you won't them back once a viable JD alternative is avail.

So, don't wait too long to update JD (orig.) or provide acceptable excuse and back that up ...

"you will need to wait for update to come out, or you can use it now within JD2. No ETA for stable update." ...comments like this will hurt you and mark you as mistake makers and lazy excuse makers and not skilled in their "jobs".

The choice is, of course, YOURS!

So this isn't fixed in JD's nightly builds? By the way, I'm using Freemake at the moment and it's buggy as hell. Is it that hard to code an app to download freely-available streams? At least you can't be too harsh on freeware.

@13mh13

as you stated yourself, choice is yours. And you need to make that not us. This was not a error of lazy coding or bad programming, google/youtube changed finallink format, from youtube.com to googlevideo.com. We set strict regular expressions to prevent false positives, and allow various components of youtube support to still work.

the rest of your statements are -meh-
a) JD2 is build on last nightly release, last nightly we built on last stable release. It's one and the same program.
b) Criticism ? some people don't like change.. what's new. Others make constructive criticism and give feedback. Asks for things to be changed etc. This is healthy.
c) time will come when JD2 will be the only version. You will have to upgrade in order to get working plugins. The older update system will be turned off, once JD2 is released as final/stable, and the user base will be migrated across into JD2.
d) waiting or not, well that's your choice. Plugin updates to older versions of JDownloader is a manual process and it's very time consuming. Update intervals to older versions have spread over the last year or so. This is really only due to limited time, and only two people have access to do this task.
e) We also advise that youtube login only works in JDownloader 2. It is required for some purposes, for example: if you want to grab content that requires login.

@Pulstar

Are you using JDownloader 2 or the old / previous Nightly release? If its the latter that receives plugin updates only, and at the same time as current stable release (0.9.581)

Ok using JD2 as previously stated setting to collect highest available MP4 format file.
Now at least it is finding links up to 720.

Question: I just saw message from jD2 about YT problems and you guys mentioned DASH protocol. Have you guys figured out how to disable it? I have few hours to kill and can take a look if it's still a problem. Don't wanna waste my time if it's solved

No double posts please, see forum rules!

JD2 doesn't have any viruses!
Try to re-install your JD1.
Make sure you're using the Java 1.6 as long as you use the old JD.

Then use the installers from my signature.
They don't contain any adware.
