I checked them out and determined that firewall and Kaspersky are not the problem with JDownloader. And JDownloader used the download Youtube videos very well. I think one of the recent updates screwed up Youtube downloads for me. Thats all that was effected, Youtube downloads. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There has been no update that could cause such an issue. 12 Secs Connect timeout is extrem. That is somehow caused by network/firewall/av.
You can provide a new logfile and I can take a look if you want

Thanks for all the team's work on JDownloader. I use it almost everyday and it is a Huge Convenience!

My question/problem is: Why does Jdownloader 2 Always upscale the audio of Youtube videos to 254 kbps? I cannot find any settings that allow you to keep the original Youtube audio. About 95% of youtube audio is natively 126 kbps as of a few months ago... Upscaling audio only creates worse sound and more artifacts...

Please allow an option in the youtube plugin to leave the audio Untouched. Thanks very much!

@jkb22.22
JDownloader does not change streams at all. It only muxes. There is no scaling/conversion at all, it is 100% raw streams.
@Mistery:
Backup/Restore the cfg folder. Everything is stored within that folder!

@Aspa5
something is wrong within your installation, I asked Jiaz for his opinion on the matter,
"jiaz> my guess, it never worked"

@Mistery
JD is already portable. Copy paste the installation to your portable device. Add other additional Java installations (if you require additional bitrate versions), and you can start it with CLI

Jiaz thanks for reply. I have downloaded Hundreds of youtube videos over the past 2 years using Jdownloader 2.

I agree for youtube VIDEO. there seems to be no encoding of any video stream and they render in the downloaded file correctly in the resolution chosen. This is Very Nice.

However, in these same video files, youtube AUDIO ALWAYS shows up as 254 kbps. This means that the audio is being reencoded/upscaled from its native 126 kbps.

I have used multiple combinations of settings in the jdownloader 2 youtube plugin, but the result is always the same: 254 kbps. i have also tried several (3 or 4) other youtube download programs; those have all produced aac audio of 126 kbps.

Maybe i am the only one with this problem? are there youtube audio settings i'm missing or not understanding? Is everyone else getting a proper 126 kbps???

This is the only flaw i have with the otherwise incredible jdowloader 2...

@jkb22.22
Youtube provides audio in many different bitrates! There is no encoding/converting at all. You can check yourself. If you want lower bitrate, change settings in Settings-Plugins- search for youtube

A couple of years ago, Youtube Did in fact provide several different audio bitrates for x264 videos. Now, they have simplified their audio process and only provide aac 126 kbps for almost all mp4 x264 videos. Youtube has webm videos for some which can contain a couple different bitrates in Vorbis or Opus format (usually 160 ogg), but i am referring to x264 MP4 format, which a majority of people will download.

When a youtube video finishes downloading in jdownloader 2, the status bar says: "Converting/Demuxing..." Again, the Video appears untouched, but the audio is in fact upscaled to 254 kbps Every Time. This Worsens already mediocre youtube sound...

Again, i have downloaded Hundreds of youtube videos with several different programs and jdowmloader 2 is the only one guilty of this phenomenon. All other programs render the video with 126 kbps audio...

I have Extensively experimented with the settings in jdownloader2's youtube plugin. Under "Allowed Media Types - Audio": checking ALL types = 254 kbps aac. UNchecking ALL types = 254 kbps aac. Checking 128 kbps AAC ONLY = 254 kbps. Any combination of checked audio gives you: yes, 254 kbps. I use MediaInfo to check all video file specs. MP4/AAC seems to always override Webm/ogg unless you have the appropriate selections under "If you want...more links..." section.

This is a serious flaw that is being overlooked for Youtube AAC audio in jdownloader 2. You are doing yourselves and your customers a disservice by assuming/ignoring this issue. PLEASE add/change the settings in youtube plugin to fix this oversight. I would not waste Yours or mine time/effort if i did not feel this was Very Important.

JDownloader does not conversion at all! That is a fact. We simply mux audio/video into one stream/container. And we parse all available tags and use the best combination of those that you allowed in settings. I will ask a developer to check this one again. Fact is that they report different qualities via their itags

Cool Youtube - webm codec confusion

When downloading a recent yt vid, jd shows two (vp9) webm files which turn out to be either the opus or vorbis audio codec. Maybe for other/older encodes it could be vp8 or vp9 video codec? It would be nice to be able to tell these apart before download :-)

Hi, I have a sound problem issue regarding 480p videos that are being muxed by ffmpeg.
The problem is there's a screeching/chirping sound coming from the Right Channel of the mp4 video.

Though downloading 360p and 720p of the same video doesn't have any audio problem, since CMIIW 360p and 720p doesn't need muxing by ffmpeg.

It just happened recently, weeks ago I don't have any problems with the audio of 480p youtube vids.

Is Youtube the culprit or ffmpeg muxing 480p videos?

I checked on the Advanced Setting, all of my FFmpegSetup are default values. I even downloaded the latest ffmpeg build.
