Bug: Update enabled advanced setting
Hi
I use jDownloader almost exclusively to download stuff that never has a space in its name. Rather, packages have dots instead of spaces. I even wrote a script to automatically clean up names in the LinkGrabber to ensure spaces get exchanged with dots. Today, after an update, it seemed my script was suddenly broken, and I expected that perhaps an update had made changes to the JavaScript engine, and something was no longer compatible in my (unchanged) script. I found that my script still worked, but somehow the effect didn't stick. I then found that a finished download that I had manually named, also had its dots replaced with spaces, and when looking in the settings. I finally found the "GeneralSettings: Clean Up Packagenames" setting under Advanced Settings, and lo and behold, this was the culprit. In the years I've been using jDownloader, I've never heard of this setting, so I most certainly didn't enable it myself. I don't know if it's a new one, and it was decided it should be enabled by default and hidden under Advanced Settings, or if something-something just happened in this latest update? Either way, I could expect quite a few downloaders getting confused and then disgruntled as jDownloader suddenly decides to rename all their packages out of the blue I'm happy, though, that I didn't have to figure out a way to downgrade, especially since it seems there are no longer old version available for download? Cheers, Milly PS: This captcha system is ridiculously hard to read. I don't have the best eyes in the first place, but I had to click "Refresh Image" twelve times to find one that I think I can read, but I'm not confident that the submit button will yield success, so better copy everything out beforehand. |

@MillyCat: The update did not enable any advanced setting but it fixed a bug that caused this feature not to work as it should by default. Now the feature works as intended. There were users that reported this feature to be broken and thus I fixed it. Now user report that the bugfix changes behaviour because they do not know the behaviour as it should have been in first place.

You can disable this feature via Settings->Advanced Settings -> GeneralSettings.cleanuppackagenames Quote:
BUT : The bugfix might not be *the same* as before and I still checking if it works slighty different/more than it did before. I will of course revert/change back to old behaviour. User should report issues/bugs and normally we can check/fix those in no time

Hello
Good to hear! Thanks for clarifying I see another one in the forum also being confused about underscores "not working anymore," so I wasn't the only one. It's nice to have a feature like that, as evidenced by me implementing it myself (though creating literally the opposite effect, haha) But maybe it should be disabled by default, if it never worked before? Or worked so long ago that people now aren't expecting the behavior to happen? Or at least then not be in Advanced Settings? Maybe it's just me, but having an extra option to specify what character to use might be cool for others, too. I download a bunch of things that are named specifically without spaces, and with dots replacing spaces where they appear. One of the sites I use have replaced dots with spaces, so my own script undoes that and generally cleans up names, so they're more "authentic." Anyway, thanks again! Hope the "random number of decimals after the point" quirk will be fixed too, soon. Thanks for your work! Milly PS: This time I had to "Refresh Image" over 50 times and had 4 failed submits before succeeding XD LOL, that captcha! Grrr... |

GeneralSettings.packagenamereplacemap GeneralSettings.filenamereplacemap GeneralSettings.cleanuppackagenames is a leftover from before but was not fully applied due to the bug. It was on long enough for user to miss this functionality but also long enough for user to not miss/to forget about it dilemma it will be default off for new installations but also is planed to be removed and replaced by packagenamereplacemap and users jus place those chars in there as well.

It's not *random* but is normal numerical number format logic trailing zeroes are not shown. but yes, that's also on todo list

Jdownloder LinkGrabber remove some text elements such as dots, low lines. etc.
As the title is saying, Jdownloder LinkGrabber menu remove some text elements such as dots, low lines and etc. from the file folder's names upon grabbing them,
In other words if I copy links from a video that is call "Copy_Me.", In Jdowloader LinkGrabber tab the folder will appear as "Copy Me ", and even if I will edit it back, JD just won't accept these changes in the LinkGrabber tab and remove them, BUT it will accept my edits if I do them in the Dowloads tab, I've used Jdownloader for years, even ever since JD1, and I recall it didn't behave like that before, Is it some issue on my end or it's something that was changed in the app itself in the recent few months? |

I see thx, I will disable it then,
Strange though, I know it never remove this stuff for me and I use the app for years, I've only had it recently. |
