Hi Guys, Strange thing, ever since my last web update yesterday all my download speeds have reduced drastically. I was downloading at 500 kb a sec and now it is down to 8 kb a sec. This is on all Premuim hosting sites like Wupload and Rapidshare.
Is there anyone else having this issue? Thanks |

Hi again, I even reinstalled JD with the same issue. All premium sites are very slow, direct http downloads from FTP is fast. As mentioned this happened after the last web update.
Thanks again |

coincidence, this wont be related to jdownloader updates. Plugin updates have no influence on speeds (unless the download method has changed). Ask yourself what else might have changed over that same time frame/period (OS Updates, java updates, software updates (firewall/antivirus))..

Nothing has chnaged, no microsoft updates, no antivirus or firewall updates. All that changed was the JD update.

The strangest thing is that I can download a file from direct http with IDM at a minimum of 485kb per sec, yet the same file if i try to use JD I get 34kb a sec. I don't think it's a issue with anything else but JD update that occurred yesterday.

antivirus / firewall are the most common cause of download speed issues, either directly (software updates, that has new features which affect existing programs), or indirectly (java update installs to a new path and your old exemption no longer work). Because jd can be started from jdownloader.exe and runs from java.exe or javaw.exe it can have issues with many antivirus/firewalls specially if install paths change (have version numbers within install paths). Those software products also have LIVE http/web/link scanners which can affect download speeds also, which is the next common cause to slow speeds.
We do not limit JD in any manner so speeds on your system are generally related to your system setup. Speeds issues are directly influenced by external software 95% of the time. The other 5% makes up ISP issues, hoster issues, infected computer with virus/worms, and finally but not least small chance of java version + JD issue. We recommend java 1.6 lastest for our current publication.

Hi, I checked everything possible. Disabled firewall, checked the Java version etc.. Strange thing is that if you google this issue, there are lots of people having the same issue on JD, Don't get me wrong here. I am not saying that it is confirmed that it is a JD issue. Ad mentioned in my initial post, this started after the last web update. Is there any additional info that I can supply?
Direct HTTP downloads is fast, if I choose the same file via JD it is extremely slow. Now that tells me that the issue might be in JD. IDM has the same speed as direct HTTP. |
