JDownloader has never been a fully automated tool that makes assumptions and configures everything by itself. Instead, we prioritize customizability.
While JDownloader may not offer the ideal default settings for your use case, it is so customizable that it covers a wide range of other users' needs (and yours too if you configure it according to your needs).

More about automating default behavior:
Regarding YouTube, one could argue that since it's a video platform, JDownloader should, by default, only provide the user with the video itself—excluding audio, thumbnails, subtitles, or descriptions. However, this would not align with our focus on flexibility and user choice.

You are assuming that users always intend to play the downloaded videos on the same device they used for downloading. In reality, many users play their videos on other devices, such as smart TVs, or stream them via their NAS.

This is more of a convenience issue rather than a fundamental problem. Additionally, "Downie" is paid software, whereas JDownloader is completely free.

Where I agree with you:
For highly popular websites like YouTube (or upon first launching the application), JDownloader could offer a setup wizard that asks users about their video download preferences.

This is not the case. I looked at the offline content line items and searched the title of the video and was able to find and load it in the browser And when I copy them back into jdownloader those offline contents load up as downloadable.

Might be some throttling on the YouTube side.

It would be great if I could get the channel download or is there anyway to export the offline content links to a text file so I can reprocess them?


update: seems inconsistent... first run had 116 content offline now it is only 103 but those offline aren't offline. If you search for the title and copy the url again it downloads that content. The second time.

update2: you can drag and drop linkgrabber "content offline" line items to the desktop to get the actual YouTube page. then double click to open the links to see the actual video which runs.

Cookie method's not quite working for me right now, I opened a new firefox session, went to youtube, exported cookies, but I'm stuck on the Temp. disabled status in account manager.

Es ist nal wieder so weit: YouTube erkennt keine Video und Audio Dateien von YT.
Auch nach dem Update nicht. Auf 2 Computern (es liegt also auch nicht am Computer)

Hier ist das Log von meinem Zweitcomputer.

Beim Hauptcomputer wurden 4 der neueren Videos erkannt aber bei allen anderen nicht. Es betrifft sowohl Shorts als auch andere Videos. Bilder und Text werden erkannt. Auch Streams, die noch nicht konvertiert wurden.
Auf meinem Hauptcomputer habe ich 2 schon konvertierte Streams zum Download geschickt, da heißt es "Datei nicht gefunden".
Ich habe mich auch schon bei meinem Zweitkonto bei YT angemeldet und den Cache für die Anmeldung im JD2 neu eingegeben, aber auch das hat nichts geändert.

Ich weiß nicht ob es sich um das gleiche Problem handelt, das im Post vorher beschrieben wurde, aber seit ein paar Stunden werden keine youtube-Links mehr übernommen, bereits vorhandene Youtube-Links in JD gehen nicht mehr.

Da wäre Hilfe dringend angebracht!

All I can say is that those items are offline according to the YT server side response I can see in your logs:

-> Whatever is causing this, it is not a JD problem.

Indeed the item is available here so this might have been some kind of GEO-block or a temporary issue with this particular video (and a lot more according to your logs)?
Did you maybe switch between different VPNs?

The problem clearly isn't a rate-limit so there is no more info I can provide based on your logs.

Please enable debug mode and post a fresh log.
This time make sure that it contains only the activity of the problematic YT item.

Same here yesterday, today it works fine again.
Seemed to be a YT issue and not a JD problem.

YT is rolling out new changes that breaks current support. It's unknown if this is a/b testing or rolling out changes slowly.

Bei mir funktionieren vorhandene Links noch, die in früheren Sessions gecrawlt wurden, wie bspw. dieses Opus-File:

Allerdings funktioniert weder JD noch die anderen Progs die ich sonst für sowas nutze.

I've noticed this for about a month or so now. When I have a video downloaded from YT via JD2, if I go to the file's location and select a View that has a thumbnail (Medium, Large, Extra Large), the video will have a thumbnail preview. My JD2 downloaded YT videos have had them for EVERY video for years now. Lately, it's sporadically NOT downloading videos with thumbnail previews. Today I opened my JD2 download folder and it had 34 videos inside, download from the last 4 days. Five of them do not have thumbnails. Not channel-specific - I have three videos from the same channel and only one does not have a thumbnail.

Also, not sure if related or not but, of the 29 of those videos that did have thumbnails, five of THOSE the thumbnail it does have is... narrower than normal? Like, their thumbnail is a vertical rectangle while the others are the usual wide rectangle.

Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this?

Das Problem besteht nach wie vor.
Downloadversuche von youtube enden in der message
"Content offline!Error ".

Die Links sind aber korrekt und die entsprechenden Dateien in Youtube im Browser können aufgerufen werden.

Wenn auch andere Tools nicht gehen, spricht wohl sehr viel für erneute Änderungen seitens YT und somit abwarten/hoffen das auf die Änderungen reagiert wird.
