Default Third party plugin development

I would like to know if it is possible to develop unofficial plugins. For example I have non public site for which I want to provide a plugin. Is this possible or are all plugins part of the main project and distributed with each release?

You missunderstood me. I don't want to build JDownloader myself. Users have a regular installation of JDownloader. I just want to provide the plugin which they can install.
So if there is some kind of SDK for JDownloader I would build my plugin jar and give this to the users.

Yes, you can develop the plugin by yourself and provide it to your users. They only have to install/copy to the decrypter/hoster plugin directory and JDownloader will find/use it automatically.
You don't have to build your own JDownloader! Plugins are build/distributed as raw .class files
See the get-started link how to setup the IDE. If you need help with plugin development, you can also contact us via support@jdownloader.org

Nope I didn't mistunderstood you just wanted to show you where to start in case you haven't ever checked out the source code.

Is your idea to just share with a couple of friends type of thing? this can be workable, especially if you don't have to update plugin regularly. I've done this myself, and it does work. If you're trying to support a platform in this manner I wouldn't recommend this approach. Mainly due to distributing/applying updates, for example would require you to do this manually, users would have to shut down/restart client in order to load new class (update system doesn't have to). Some of your users also might not have knowledge todo this.

each to there own =] Happy hunting
