Hey guys

I'm trying to download this link here from gdrive

and JD says "EMPTY OR PRIVATE FOLDER {id}"... but if you open any folder, you will see several folders with several files inside of it. i have no idea what i can do. Any idea what it might be happening here?

Works fine here.

Here is a possible workaround which should help you:
1. Create a Google Drive API key:
elfsight.com/blog/2020/03/how-to-use-google-drive-api-and-get-an-api-key/
2. Go to Settings -> Plugins -> drive.google.com -> Enter your API key here
3. Now re-addthat URL to JD - it should work fine now.

no luck... same result.... but it did found more folders this time, but all of them as ""EMPTY OR PRIVATE FOLDER {id}"still...

The steps I did

- created a new API key, according to the website you sent
- added into gDrive plugin
- tried again
- no luck
- removed the account (gdrive account in my Jd)
- added the API key again
- closed Jd (in case if it want to re-read new configuration or something)
- opened it again
- no luck =(

any more steps i should do this time?

Your logs do not contain any GDrive activity.
Please make sure to enable debug logs first (see instructions linked in my last post and HERE again) and post new logIDs.

I'm trying to download a folder from a private group on Google Drive. I linked my Drive account with JDownloader and put in API key, and yet I get "EMPTY OR PRIVATE FOLDER ERROR" when I try to download. How do I fix this?

JDownloader cannot crawl private GDrive folders - this is a known issue.
Please read THIS thread - at also contains one possible workaround.
A bugfix for this won't be available any time in the near future!

I think i did it right this time... hopefully i did it right =)


No API key - for some reason, it found some folders, but is missing several other folders, as you can see in the image below

WITH API key -

As weird as it may sounds, after I added my API key, for some weird reason, my Jd no longer crawls any gDrive links and only returns me "No valid account"... even after entered a new account, closed and opened JD again. No luck! Weird

Got it fixed!

Multiple bugs and strange API behavior of the GDrive API were coming together here!
Also your folder indeed contains a lot of empty folders but JD crawled this folder in the opposite way than how it is sorted via browser and it failed to find all items which is why you only got offline items in API mode.

Next update fixes this issue and will also name offline folders in a way so that you can see the full folder path leading to these offline items.

After the next core-update, ID should find a total amount of 599,74GiB, 48814 online items and 269 offline items (= empty folders).

Updates have just been released

Keep in mind: You have to use the API to crawl such big folders!
Our website crawler will fail to crawl big GDrive folder/subfolder structures.

Superb then!!! just a quick question, when this will be available? I just updated my Jd here, tried and no lucky... Still same behavior..

With api key - no valid account
With NO api key - only crawls 15 folders, no more than this

Steps I did

- updated Jd
- let it restart
- reset gdrive plugins configurations
- tried to crawl
- 15 folders found
- deleted previews API keys from my google console
- created a new API key
- inserted this new API key into the gdrive plugin
- no valid account found

is that right while the update doesn't hit the servers and so on?

Updates have already been released so it should work just fine:
1. Update JD.
2. Make sure the API-Key is added in the drive.google.com settings.
3. Add your URL.

If it doesn't work for you, please post a log.

here are the steps....
- updated Jd to the latest version
- closed it
- disabled the old gdrive account
- enabled my current gdrive account (unlimited one)
- added the API from this new account
- closed Jd (just in case)
- pasted the URL
- no valid account

- it does crawls 15 folders

got it what was wrong here on my end... Jd, for some unknown reason (at least, for me), can't understand to which account the API key belongs to... That's why it fails to crawl the links when I paste in it... removed both accounts, added only one, pasted the API key, from this recently gdrive account added, and voila!!! working flawlessly as you stated!!! 600gb of files to download!

The apikey does not belong to a specific account - it should work fine even with one or multiple active google Accounts!

Well, after I removed all gdrive accounts, added only one and an API key from this account, everything worked flawlessly. I noticed Jd just got some updates... if you want, i can try it out again with this new version, if there is something related to this...

but superb anyway!!! thanks a lot for putting some good efforts and making Jd better every day =)
