2.It's not about VEVO!
It's about the fact that youtime sometimes uses a new streaming technology which JD cannot handle yet!

I usually use JD to see all sources and grab the 720 or 1080 if its there.

Understand its a youtube thing :-)

Be interesting to see how 'mirror' method works or another way to expose the mp4 url.

If YT have just changed, it will be the same for all downloaders you would of thought. JD is the best though! Sure it will get sorted.

OK just to confirm, for what its worth that
FreeMake Video Downloader is , for example, able to download any chosen format of this VEVO YTube sample that for me , previously JD could not

I'm in the UK if that is of any help.

If at least we have a reliable alternative for these, that will take the pressure off the JD guys while they work on the issue.

This worked for me today for 3 (of 3) VEVO videos that I tried that JDownloader couldn't handle. Not sure how the extension works, or if it's something that would be applicable. I'm in the US fwiw.

I'm not sure if the MP3 "conversion" feature of the extension works the same way as JDownloader's (does JDownloader demux the original audio stream?). The extension gives you a 128kbps MP3, so if the audio stream in the FLV videos that have an MP3 soundtrack are usually less than 128kbps, I guess it means it's re-encoding it from somewhere.

there is no "new streaming format" or "chunck streaming". youtube just changed the signature method for some videos (mainly VEVO). it is pretty easy to get it working again.

we know... and it's been fixed you just need to wait for plugin updates to take place

the new streaming format is actually present (it downloads in segments), but you can still trigger the old download method if you have the correct sig.

It does not work with mine.

@sugarsugar If you are using JD 0.9.581 you need to wait for the next update. If you are using JD2 please post the example links and the log.

Yessss! Vevo videos are working again in JD 2, my favorite download manager still be the best.

Seems like every time any Youtube downloader software or browser extension fix the issue, Google deliberately breaks it again. ARGH!!!!
