I came across this wonderful app yesterday.

I've looked for help in the wiki section but didn't find anything. Here's what I'm looking for: if the same file is stored in several servers, is it possible to add the file once and specify different sources for it? Thus, if a server can't be used, then switch to another source automatically.

You can add as many mirrors as you want!
JD usually just loads every file one time and notices if you insert it twice so you have to do nothing than adding your normal source and mirror links and starting the download.

You need to add mirrored files to the same package as normal one. JD should detect that automatically and use mirrors if needed.

Ok, just to be sure, if I want to get a file from 5 different mirrors, I just need to create a package and add the 5 links to that file, isn't it?

Yes and no...

Many filehosters only allow "sequential" downloads and not resumable downloads.
5 links to the same file won't help very much but 25 links to 5 files would each be downloaded from a different hoster.

I'm afraid that problem isn't solved yet. At least for me.

If I add let's say three parts of a file with two sources each, the the parts get downloaded from one hoster. But JDownloader doesn't recognice, that the file is complete, which means that the file isn't unarchived automatically. The (download-)status just stops at 50%.

Also if JDownloader gets the chance to download from the mirrorhost it tries to do. At last I got a message that "overwriting failed"!
So I assume JDownload tries to download each part twice by itself!?

Well ok, he it comes.

The package consists of three parts. There are the two mirrors Rapdidshare.com and ~.de. The links were sorted the following way:

Part 1 - rs.com
Part 1 - rs.de
Part 2 - rs.com
Part 2 - rs.de
Part 3 - rs.com
Part 3 - rs.de

After completion of the download of Part 1 from rs.com JDownloader started the download of Part 1 from rs.de *overwriting* the existing file!

At the end of the log the following parts are completed:

Part 1 - rs.com
Part 1 - rs.de
Part 2 - rs.com
Part 3 - rs.com

So all parts are locally stored, but JDownloader didn't realize that and still waits to download the least two parts (again).
It *doesn't* set the package to status complete and doesn't extract the files automatically.

P.S.: No need to unarchive the file, just rename it to *.txt. The board doen's allow 38kB textfiles but archives.
