Some time ago, C-SPAN must've reworked their video structure cuz it stops the download when you try to start it, although it does pickup the filename:

Thanks so much, the download is working, but could you set it so that it grabs the title of the video instead of the show cuz all the day's segments are showing up under the same package and filename. It used to pick up the title of the video.

please add a more detailed problem description.
Your most recent example gets the name "Open Phones on Capitol Lockdown, Part 1.mp4" and "Open Phones on Capitol Lockdown, Part 1" doesn't look like a category to me.

Please add a more detailed problem description - comare the current filenames against your desired ones and add a detailed description of your expected filenames.

I've added the "upload date" to the filenames for the next update but I wasn't able to identify any better reasonable titles - please enlight me on that!

Removed plugin for c-span.org since it was working in an unreliable way and our generic deep-parser will most likely do a better job at this than the plugin we had so far.

I copy a link that ends in .m3u8 from c-span, JDownloader recognizes it but it can't be downloaded: it says 'File not found'. I would appreciate that you helped me.

That is wrong.
The plugin for c-span.org has been removed for the reasons stated two posts above this one (post #11).

It looks like c-span.org has now added a simple referer protection to their .m3u8 URLs which makes the download fail.

I had another look at this.
There are essentially two problems:
1. m3u8 download: Referer is needed

2. c-span.org uses a small bot protection.
The easiest way to get the referer set AND re-add the ability to auto crawl c-span.org items is to use a LinkCrawler Rule of type DEEPDECRYPT.
When I did this, I ran into a small bot protection from c-span.org.
To get around this, you will need to supply your cookies with the rule.

I'm marking this one as solved.
It rermains open for user-feedback though I'm very confident that my proposed solution will work for the user too.
I've tested it and verified that the HLS[.m3u8] download is startable with said solution.
