I have had the opposite issue. If a video's default audio is English but has other language audio tracks, JD downloads the video with one of the other languages instead of the original English. What is the fix for that?

@goldensun87: sure english is original and not dubbed? I'm asking because proper support for original, dubbed, ai dubbed has been added several weeks ago. make sure your JDownloader is up2date and reset Settings->Advanced Settings->
Youtube.videofilenamepattern
Youtube.audiofilenamepattern
Youtube.variantnamepatternvideo
Youtube.variantnamepatternaudio
and restart JDownloader
then you will see language and language type in filename/variant name

3 weeks ago, the same thing happened to me. I made the following change.

@jdmaster: your changes have nothing to do with the reported problem, complete different plugin/settings.

You will not find them there. For the plugin settings of arte, go to Settings->Plugins->arte.tv
No need for this to go to advanced settings

Default YouTube-Dowload schlägt fehl

Hi zusammen,

Log: 13.02.25 18.15.34 <--> 13.02.25 18.17.00 jdlog://4209411370661/

Testlink: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Quote:
Content offline!Error - [Videotitel von YouTube]; Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot
und in der Beschreibung steht ebenfalls:

Quote:
Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot

Dort:

Kern 48254
Launcher: 5770
Win 11 64bit

Auch dazu ein log: 13.02.25 17.52.22 <--> 13.02.25 18.33.35 jdlog://5209411370661/

Did downloading videos from YouTube go down again, about an hour ago? I was chugging along downloading around 100+ videos when suddenly they stopped. I have about 50 left and every one of them is reporting a status of "Temporarily Unavailable". Is this just me?

:outch: Danke. Hab mir das fast gedacht. Ich werde mal einen VPN einrichten. Das erscheint mir einfacher, als die Cookie-Methode.

Well I feel like a dummy... I tried many things, such as connecting to different VPN networks, resetting the downloads, closing & reopening JD2.. the list goes on. They're downloading again now. The fix? Apparently, me restarting my entire PC did the trick. Can't explain it, as tJD2 was the only program on my entire PC having any issues. But it's working now - 3/53 files downloaded as I'm typing this, and still going. Thanks for the response Jiaz, I'll try to remember to do a basic PC restart when/if this happens again!

@enjikari: most likely it was temp. ban of your IP/account(in case you are logged in).
when it happens again and easy methods don't help, just report back then

Hmmm... It may be presumptuous to imply that you're able to answer for VPNs but, I would have thought that if it was a temp IP ban then me changing VPN locations would have fixed that. But it didn't I changed states, countries, and even continents, but kept getting TEMP UNAVAIL. Any thoughts on this? I'm glad a standard, generic PC restart fixed the issue but, why didn't a VPN network change fox it first?

@enjikari: if ip change did not help, then it was either account bound issue or something else, maybe a new rolling out changes by yt.we will see how it is going.
without logs it's just wild guessing

I'm having some issues with cookies, I'm exporting them using Cookie-Editor, they've worked fine before, but now when putting them in it says "Unknown Error" in the status and says I'm temporary disabled for an hour, linkgrabber doesn't work at all right now for me either, it just crawls forever.

Default Temporarily unavailable (youtube.com)

Similar thing happened 2 weeks ago although the error message then was different. I only get to download youtube videos every couple of weeks. The first day all was ok. The next day I could no longer download. Last time it seemed to be a global issue whether I was on vpn or not. And a jdownloader update fixed it.

However this time I get the error without a vpn. But with the vpn turned on I am ok. I assume this means that youtube are targeting my ip address? After I make a certain number of donwloads?

I don't always use a vpn because of the cost. And I assumed I was ok to download from youtube without a vpn? Is there something I can do to work around this without a vpn?

@steve2038: youtube is not targeting your IP but detecting unwanted behaviour/usage and then put temp. block on IP. You can only wait for IP ban to be lifted, or try another IP/VPN.

Default some youtube links do not work

I don't know if it is me (application updated) but suddenly the app stop working on youtube while the very same works when copied in one of the many online downloaders in the web

I then realized that only links like the following
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
are not processed by JD2 while others work fine.

Are you aware of any "protection" in same YT videos?

Your example was filtered, FYI. I am having links show up as content offline after the latest update for YT even though the video is clearly not offline.

ETA: Nevermind. I was not signed in for an age restricted video.

Hello,
I have a question about youtube playlist downloads (music).
I think this is the right topic to ask? Did a search but couldn't find an answer.

When I download a playlist which has sections, it results in separate mp3 files -which I don't want- instead of 1 single file.

I'm using the convert to mp3 script in JD.
This is the playlist I'm downloading:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Can I change a setting to have the whole music set in 1 single file instead of each song separately?

Do you want to merge all items of a playlist into one mp3 file?

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

¿Alguien me puede echar una mano?

Sorry, I meant set instead of playlist

The set seems to consist of multiple songs but I wanted to know if JD can automatically convert it to a single mp3 file. Either JD doing it (although I doubt it as mp3 is not possible with Youtube) or using the mp3 script.

But now as I'm thinking about it, maybe I should have asked that in the (mp3) script section?

@Vjeetn
Well your link is a single video so you will have a single .m4a audio file after downloading it with JD.
Yes, you can use the mp3 script to automatically convert that file to an mp3 file.

Default Youtube Plugin - Allowed Media Types - Two 1080p choices

Just updated JD2 today, and IDK if this issue existed before this new version, but I know it didn't at some point last month.

Youtube Plugin, under Allowed Media Types, the Image/Video Resolution drop down choices, lists 1080p twice.

Either this is a new feature and I don't understand it, or this is done in error? Screenshot attached.

I am not allowed to view my own attachments? Good thing that I have a local copy!

Well no, that's the thing.... I've downloaded the set with JD but ended up not with one single file but multiple songs. You can see the sections in the video/set on YT.
I don't know if this is JD doing it or the convert to mp3 script? That's why I asked if it's possible to end up with a single mp3 file instead of it being split.

I used an audio editing program to merge them back into one single file but I'd rather have that done from the get go by JD or the script.

Default jDownloader for Mac downloads Youtube videos that the Mac Finder or

jDownloader for Mac downloads Youtube videos that VLC can play, but the Mac Finder or PowerPoint cannot play (codec unavaillable), like this one:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Yet applications like Downie do not such such problem. It would be great if that could be fixed.

System: PowerPoint 2024 for Mac (standalone, not 365) 16.94 (25020927) on macOS 13.7.4 (22H420) Ventura on Mac (Intel)

We are still talking past each other so here is another try:

The thing you downloaded here was a link.
That link lead top a single YT music video.
When downloading this with JDownloader, you will get exactly what you see in your browser:
A single video file containing the whole set.
That single video consists of chapters. Probably one chapter per song.

Now it looks like you would like to split up that single video into its chapters and then get one audio file for each chapter.
This iss not possible using JDownloader.

Here is the rough way how you could do this:
1. Make JDownloader write the chapter-metadata into the downloaded files, see:
https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=87653
(Should be activated by default.)

2. Use external software and/or an EventScripter script to create an individual file for each chapter.

EventScripter subforum:
https://board.jdownloader.org/forumdisplay.php?f=52
EventScripter help article:

Merged YT threads.

@jDoX
1. Works fine here under Windows.
2. If the codec that was downloaded does not work on your OS, either select another codec under Settings - Plugins - YT or use an external software to convert downloaded files into a codec that your system can handle.

* also at this moment you are the only user who has reported such a problem.

but the Mac Finder or PowerPoint cannot play (codec unavaillable)
and that is also the answer/solution. Just select a codec/variant that is supported by your software/player. Most likely AV1 and VP9 are not supported by those tools, so go to Settings->Plugins->youtube.com and there you can disable AV1 and all VP9 variants. Please know that higher resolutions often are not available in old H264.

There is nothing to fix but you should only download in codec that you actual support/can play back

Thanks for all the answers. What I meant is that other applications like Downie do it right by default, and that it would be great if jDownloader could do the same.

So, you just paste the link, download the video and that is. No other action required by the user. You know, "idiot-proof" (the great Mac way, so intuitive that you cannot do it wrong, even if you want).

@jDoX: There is no *right by default* and I think better quality is *better default*. It highly depends on the environment. When you don't have 4k display, doesn't make sense to choose that resolution. When you only have old hardware, doesn't make sense to use modern codec....there is no *right by default* and you can simply setup the plugin to your needs.
