it does not stop! rapidshare throttles the speed, wait some time and then it will continue to download

I think they did this big time to show what they can do in worst case and to decrease it slowly the next few days to see what happen and then perhaps the timeout will be only 10 seconds or so and all will be happy.

Thanks - Enomine

This is why you don't use Rapidshare. The goal for uploaders to make your files readily available to downloaders... even non-subscribing downloaders. Oh how I miss Megaupload.

So the question now becomes, if megaupload is dead which was the best free downloading site, and rapidshare becomes impossible now with free user..... what sites are left you guys recommend to use? free downloading only, and no re-captcha so jdownloader can get files over night...
is there anything left? or am i finally forced to buy a premium account :/

I'm not surprised.. all the sites seem to be struggling with the immense bandwidth demand by users, since MU was shut down and some others also ..
Here's hoping some new sites will step up to the plate.

Some website will be ready to stand in Rapidshare's place. Considering they are pulling their old stunt, many will get pissed and stray away just like always. It would be different if they forewarned downloaders that they would need to throttle free connections temporarily. But they just drop the bomb suddenly. That never goes over well. Not with me. Not with anyone. What about Anyupload? Is there truly a new webhost with the intent of supplying full free service to force websites like rapidshare to go out of business?

It's weird they didn't announce this! Maybe they have some problems with servers like half month ago!
Cause this waiting doesn't work at all, if you want to get something from RS it takes ages now...

But does someone have premium account, so he can confirm it..
If premium account users have problems with downloading, so it is server fault.
If not.. God bless us.

This happenend 2 weeks ago:

Tech info: a port is down, therefore bandwidth is missing, therefore more free user waiting time on some servers. Carrier is working on it.

what is the most powerful and the real concurrent to rapidshare ???????
isn't megaupload ?, so after megaupload down, rapidshare will take advantage from this, by getting more premium users!
how?????
with more limitation for free users !!!!all is business!!!!!
(Betweeeeen, i doubt that rapidshare has a relation in megaupload closing)

People are pissed off at RapidShare all over Twitter, this may backfire on them if it's not some temporary problem!

Ive been getting 1.7 mb/s (max speed for me) for a long time now with rapidshare without limits, wich is better then when I had premium and 15gb traffic limit. I can understand them limiting this some, but they are going from great to horrible, I would be satisfied with 200/300 kb/s as free user.
