Default Get download URL: not possible in JD2?

Hi,

In JD1 it was easy to get the download link for every file in the download list. In JD2 in some cases, it only seems to be possible to get the link to page where the download link was found, but not the link itself.

Am I missing something? Or is this intended behaviour?

Btw, Thanks for JD2!

It's the intended behaviour.

Thank you for clearing that up. Could you explain the reason for that? Could you explain how it works?

It may make sense if hidden links are added via containers or if adding links by letting JD parse whole pages. But if adding a direct DL link, it should be possible to recover that link later.

In general, I do not have a good feeling about JD watching the browser history.

It's easy.
You get what you add:
[In->Out]
Containers->Nothing
Crypted links (links added via decrypters)->Decrypted links
Plain links->Plain links

Maybe I misunderstand, but what I do is:
1) Open a webpage that contanis the link, for instance a forum post from W-BB
2) Copy the plain download link to clipboard (direct link, not encrypted)
3) File appears in JD2's "link collector" and I click the "add to downloads"
4) When trying to get the original link, JD only shows the link to the forum posting, where link was found, but not the link itself.

How do I get the original link in this case? It was neither encrypted nor from a container.

Mark the entry in the downloadlist and press Strg + C.
If you still get the forum link, maybe a Referer was somehow sent to JD.
Please post such a forum URL here.

I'd still be interested in an explanation of this behaviour.

It is strange that JD can just grap the URL of the website that the browser (firefox ) is currently showing.

I thought I'd already sent you the link via pm. But anyways, here is another example:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Just scroll to the bottom of the page and copy the downloadlink to the clip board. It appears in the "link collector" and if I do a right click on that file to get the download link, it will display the URL of that forum, but not the direct link.

Edit: it happens like this for all vbulletin boards I tried.

Sorry but i cannot confirm this.
I opened your link, got on the page, marked the link, pressed Strg + C so i had it in JD.
Then in JD i pressed Strg + C on the link and got exactly the link, nothing else!
That's how it should work.

If you test it with flashgot you will see the effect. It seems that flashgot don't deliver the correct link/naming or everything else.

If I do what just described, I am getting the link to that forum, instead of the direct download link. Maybe I should say that I am on Linux running Firefox.
I assume you are using Windows?

One last try, so that you dont think I am crazy:

Step 1: Copy link using <Ctrl>+<C>

Step 2: Properties in JD2

Them something must send the link to JD because JD does not do anything within the browser!
