You can't say it's not a total bad idea to have an antivirus even if you do practice safe computing. Better to be safe than sorry etc. I also like Vipre because it's not bloat-ware like for example kaspersky which I used to run, Vipre doesn't slow down your system like other AV's that's what attracted me to it. :D

We will place it into http://support.jdownloader.org which is going to replace current knowledge base system.
Ok I'll get on to this.

So what do think the reason is? and do you mean "read timeout looks more like a firewall/av issue" ?

Two errors in my name, not bad.

I once had a so-called anti-virus software on my PC in order to test it, but it deleted a file from a program and the program did no longer work. The virus program thought erroneously that the file was another dangerous virus. It also made my computer terribly sloooooooooow.

I've learned my lesson and I'll never try them on my computer. Why would I if everything runs fine without them?

Do you really think they protect you? If you think a virus makes your computer safer, please go on. Execute and open any file you like. Surf anywhere with your browser and let it execute all scripts, add-ons and extensions. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Note that there is an Edit button for your messages. It avoids triple-posting.

remi my long post I think proves that I'm aware of the edit button and don't you get it I'm kind of in a hurry I don't have time to waste on forum/board etiquette, look remi I'm not wasting time on pointless arguments. Yes to a point I'm with you on the subject of AV's, I know they give a lot of false positives too. It's just I also have other people who use this notebook who aren't so computer literate and may click on things that would get them and my PC into trouble.

If your not going to help me, and just want to argue please no longer post on this thread, and please any other moderators please lock this guy out of the thread if he persists with these pointless arguments, he clearly seems to have had a problem with me from the start for whatever reason (probably boredom).

Please remi don't even reply to this if you have no constructive input, I won't acknowledge you.

************************************EDITED*******************************************

UPDATE:

Well I've once again uninstalled vipre totally then rebooted (you have too anyway) then temporarily turned on Winfirewall, I then ran JD and successfully downloaded a file from MU without any set backs so the problem has to vipre I'm 99% sure on that.

Ok so I'll continue to provide you with the information you've asked and get back to you, I'll also try more links from other hosts.

Wow, I like that. You're a very funny guy.

OK, you can always try to become personal, but it won't solve your problems. What's your age?

You come here for help JD board and this you what you get, I really hope a more senior member or donator see's what this guy is doing here and ban him or at least suspended his access. I can take a joke and banter with the best of them, but I think this guy is just sitting there bored and wants to stir the pot with someone to boost his post count and I've been unlucky enough to be selected.

Last acknowledgement remi, goodbye.

Didn't you mean "last warning"?

Why do you think the other supporters are no longer replying to your posts? Answer : they already told you what to do and they aren't living in my country. I like people like you. They probably don't like repeating the same advice.

I'm sorry but I've to leave now. You know what you have to do, isn't it?

Cheers.

Think we have given as much advice on the manner as we can. We can not provide support for software that we do not use ourselves, and I know personally I do not have the energy to test 3rd party products to find conflicts myself. That said theirs always Vipre support, assuming they have forums/faq/wiki. That's assuming that Vipre your problem. And the good old trusty 'google' has been known to aid one with relief.

Well thank you for a polite reply, I've tried google and there was no useful information other than what has already been discussed. And whatever is going on with remi, I don't think he has a full grasp on English, because some of the things he said didn't make sense and his grammar was sometimes poor that or he's a little of his head e.g possible mental illness, and yes I'm being serious there's no real reason why he should have set on me like this and he always seems to absolutely have to have the last word. In light of this I'll be honest with you this guy has put me off JD forums, I've been on far bigger and far smaller forums than this and have always been treated with respect and everyone was courteous.

thank you anyway raztoki.

Thankyou for your feedback.

Hopefully you can find some resolution other than having to uninstall Vipre. Give them an email see if you can rustle a response! I'd ask how do you go about setting exemptions for 'java application' that requires safe/uninterrupted io read and writes, along with socket connections that are not tampered with (by firewall and live http scanning). You've tried these (xyz) configurations within Vipre, and all have failed. And that you would like to understand were your going wrong. For all you know it could be a bug in their program!

Take care

Note: You CAN actually put pressure on software publishers or developers of software, as JD is used by MANY and i'm not talking about 100 000 Users either, rough figures ~15million. So it HAS to work with Firewalls/AV Scanners.

You've a very interesting personality. If you get advice from different people who have lots of experience with jD and you don't understand any of them why don't you tell them what you don't understand?

Let's analyse this fascinating situation. I'm not just "sitting there bored", because giving support here is not a lot of work. Some other pleasant projects I'm working on have a higher priority. It's thanks to people like you posting interesting messages that I stay excited about it.

You wrote "Full grasp on English". This is grammatically incorrect and should be written "Full grasp of English". See "**External links are only visible to Support Staff**. In a previous post you wrote "donator see's". You probably meant "donor sees". May I ask why you introduced donor (or 'detonator') in your story?

The first sentence of the quote is 4 lines long. I learned at school that I should use shorter sentences to make them more understandable. I think it applies to English as well.

Your string of words "his grammar was sometimes poor that or he's a little of his head e.g possible mental illness" isn't grammatically correct as I can understand the words but not the meaning of your undoubtedly creative expressions.

I thought I had been courteous (you wrote 'courtious' but I couldn't find the word), treated you with respect and gradually liked your posts more and more, otherwise I wouldn't have replied. You call me mentally ill, want to ban and suspend me, accuse me that I've no constructive input, and all I'm doing is trying to help you.

If it can console you or take away your fear, according to scientific studies over a third of people in most countries report meeting criteria for the major categories of mental disorders at some point in their lives.

Jesus remi, I explained I was in a rush, this is what I mean, don't you think your being a bit petty about the smallest of things. Some of the things I said may not be "technically" correct but for the most part what I'm trying to say comes across and as I said I'm in a rush when I'm at my PC. And with you there was at least 3 separate occasions where the wording made no sense not because "I" didn't understand it, because you hadn't worded it properly and missed parts out, this happened more and more when you got defensive.

It's just sad that you've googled the grammatical correctness of some of the things I have said really.

Whatever, This has turned into a really pointless waste of time, I did listen to all of you and tried out all of your ideas for solutions, and eventually found the problem (vipre's firewall and/or active protection). I'm going to start a thread on the subject over at Sunbelt/GFI forums:

Code:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff**
I'm done here.
