Because youtube doesnt encode to mp3 at the higher qualities.

AAC for h.264 streams and for vp9 Opus or Vorbis is used nowadays and they offer much more efficiency than mp3.

By converting them to this.

You shouldnt convert the audio even further. Every further lossy compression means more quality loss.

JDownloader does not convert (see answers from above). It only demux/mux the streams.

Yes but how jd2 can combine audio and video at 1080 videos to one and only file?

This isn't editing of the seperate audio and video of any 1080p videos is downloading from the jd2?

Isn't there any choice i can download mp3 128kbps and above with jd2beta?

And i ask that because doesn't most programs support aac or m4a as the mp3 was.

And what i must choose at youtube plugin so it appear me to choose every audio only and video of any youtube link?
I mean here:

Why don't let me choose to download only audio of any youtube link?

JD mux the audio/video stream automatically by use of ffmpeg
JD only is able to download/demux what youtube offers. Youtube does not offer 128kb mp3, so no. You will have to convert high quality aac,m4a to mp3 if you need mp3

The dropdown menu in your screenshot shows all available formats and allows you to change/add additional versions

But to say it again: I highly recommend you not doing this.

AAC is better format anyway + lossy to lossy conversion means more quality loss.

Do the conversion only then if there is absolutely no way around it.

Any. Not a single link I try will decrypt. The circle thing spins but then just stops and nothing happens.

I can't even complete any Youtube downloads at the moment.

It loads about 18-20 MiB, then it drops to half speed, then suddenly to 1-4 KiB/s and then it stops and starts over again.

Also disabling the download and re-enabling it again doesn't work either(to try to get further), the download starts over from 0 again.
That was the only way it worked for me before to resume downloads - if I quit JD2 during a YT-download without disabling it first, it would also start over from 0 too.

It also seems the amount downloaded goes up very stutteringly.

After further trying other videos, I may have spoken too soon.
I can completely download videos(tried very short ones), however some still fail pretty badly (losing all connections and restarting from 0 again).

Example:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I just tried all files, even the 13 MiB 240p mp4-file dies down and starts over again in an endless loop the same way as mentioned in my earlier post.

Still can't decrypt a single youtube link. eg.
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
No youtube links whatsoever will decrypt.

The linkgrabber symbol spins but then nothing happens. Deep analyzing the links the same thing happens. All other sites seem to be working fine (twitch, dailymotion, file hosting sites etc) Just seems to be Youtube.

Links that I already had in my download list are downloading perfectly fine, resetting then checking its online status works fine as well.

It's just that I can't seem decrypt ANY new youtube links. Perhaps some sort of setting got messed up with an update?

ensure you have the latest JD2 updates, ensure you haven't crippled youtube plugin settings to the point were videos wont return.

Here's a log where I tried to decrypt several youtube vidoes: 11.06.15 13.17.16to11.06.15 13.19.14 jdlog://9664600483341/

JD2 all upto date. Youtube plugin settings are the same I've always had, I also reset them back to default but it still wouldn't decrypt any links.

@SimmianPrime
log is clean, like from a restarted session,
make sure clipboard monitoring is enabled, and you add links.
on error, upload logs

@raztoki
That's exactly what I did.

I restarted, ctrl+c'd (individually) about 5 youtube links (with clipboard monitoring on) I watched the linkgrabber symbol come on and spin after copying each link, then made the log.

Could this have something to do with the issue regarding youtube .dlc files I reported here: https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?p=337821

@SimmianPrime
if you are importing them via dlc maybe ? are the links saved from newly created dlc or ones with the error in them??

if you import from clipboard (url) it should trigger an work and have no influence from the dlc issue.

It won't decrypt youtube links with just the url from the clipboard or from a new .dlc file made up of youtube links that are still in my downloads tab. The linkgrabber icon just spins like it's decrypting but then nothing happens and it stops (same thing with both links from clipboard and .dlc files of youtube links) Every other site/link I've tried works fine.

Edit: So I gave up trying to fix it and just uninstalled then reinstalled. Seems to be working fine again now (that was really weird)

Default Cannot download youtube videos

I used to be able to download the videos but it now says that FFmpeg is missing and to download it. When I click on the given link it just takes me to the jdownloader updater.
It seems that the FFmpeg page is missing so I cannot d/load from there.

Does anyone know what I can do?

Thanks,
ferez:confused:

@randy_andy
at this given time you can't preference one over the other, you can set the allowed subtitle languages

@ferez468
I don't believe anything has changed on our side in respects to ffmpeg for some time. It should be still be working aok.

@basti2k
8k should be supported, Think I saw coalado make commit the other week about it.

What is the difference between two variants with the same names?
Link from #1705 - some variants are duplicated without any difference in the names for "Ghost Towns in 8K_720p_H264_720p_AAC_192kbit"

After choosing/adding them - 2 different links are generated:

Customized filename is set to:
*videoname*_*resolution*_*videoCodec*_*resolution*_*audioCodec*_*audioQuality*.*ext*

Editestowy:
This is because there are actually two different 2160p vp streams. One of them has a slightly higher bitrate. I will update the Plugin to give them different names like
2160p-vp9 Low Quality profile_160kbit_Opus

Thank god I'm a mind reader!

It should be possible, though it wont be accurate as youtube groups series of fps in one or two identifiers.

I've had this issue for some time now, occasionally an attempt to add a youtube link fails, it stalls forever.
This isn't so bad except for the fact that the url is usually incomplete, meaning I can't remember what video I was trying to add, and it takes detective work to find out what's missing.
Would it be possible to always show the complete url in the pop up window?
The example is complete because its shorter but many times its missing a letter or two and then i have to figure it out manually, which really sucks if I didn't actually open the link in a browser before.

@travestree
I have that dialog not showing any longer, are you able to resize x and y ? I think if you could it would auto scale the URL to the display size.

Unfortunately I've tried that before, the truncated url +.... is baked into the message window, there is nothing to reveal.
