Mega.co.nz decrypting extremely slow. Is it normal?
Hi!
Decrypting files downloaded from mega is obscenely slow. For example right now a 2.6GB file is being decrypted and it goes with 0.01-0.06 percent increments. It's ridiculous. |

What are your system specs? HDD/SDD or network drive? What os?
That's slow indeed but decryption happens as fast as possible so only limited by read/write speed and cpu. What is CPU usage during decryption?

Sounds to as something causes issues. Speed should be limited by disk/cpu and not that slow. There is nothing *inefficient*. Decryption is read data, decrypt , write data.
How long does the file take? What firewall/av do you use? I can offer you a teamviewer session so we check this out together, just contact us via support@jdownloader.org

Why is the download not decrypted in RAM as it downloads?
Afaik the download is encrypted in chunks, which you could decrypt as the download happens. This way nothing has to be read from disk again and thus, slowed down. All of mega's tools do this, i think. Would it be possible to implement that in the plugin? |

We are aware of this idea
but it requires major changes to the download system and the old/current one is too hackish to implement it. Same reason why is not done yet. I'm working on a new download system but unfortunately I don't find much time to finish the work at the moment.

But even without this optimizations, the decryption speed is primary limited by read/write speed and even on hdd it should not be *that* slow like from OP. That's why I've asked for teamviewer session in first place
