docker usage: jdownloader, filebot, vpn on headless system
hi there,
i would like jdownloader to use a vpn tunnel for downloads. i don't want to use a sytemwide vpn, but only jdownloader to route its traffic through the tunnel. Is it possible to use a docker image for jdownloader (and filebot) that connects through a (docker) vpn tunnel and still being accessible via my-jdownloader? Or is there an easier way than docker to achieve this? Everything is running on debian 10 headless. kind regards |

Does your VPN provide http/socks proxies? If so, it's very easy to setup JDownloader to use VPN/Proxy for download only and MyJDownloader/Updates still use your normal connection (lower latency and no connectivity/update issues when VPN/Proxy is down)
What VPN is it? OpenVPN? Tun/Tap Device?

I recommend two easy different setups:
1.) VM/docker -> install proton vpn in there and also a http/socks5 proxy then you can setup JDownloader or other VM/docker to use that http/socks5 proxy for traffic 2.) modify openvpn setup configuration to no redirect gateway and in JDownloader use configuration that uses the network device of openvpn for traffic (use board search, often the same setup) In case you need help with setup/got questions, please don't hesitate and just ask for help
