Angry binkiland

WTF is up with this! I do not recall an option screen for opting out of binkiland. I was perfectly happy with the old version and finally gave into the notification for version2. I then spent an hour removing binkiland. I would have much rather donated the value of that time lost than going through this exercise.

This pisses me off and you all are the last ones I would have expected to bundle adware malware viruses, etc., call it what you want but browser hijack spyware is not good business. I do not mess with cnet, download.com, etc. because it's a waste of time.

I saw an excuse earlier in this thread that it's not jdown:mad::mad:loader, it's the download packager, and I don't buy it. Find another partner then. I would not do this to you out of respect and common decency.

A few points for the avoidance of doubt:

1. The developers are really willing to find a solution for the adware problem. As proof I want to point out that some of the adware has already been removed from the installer.
Unfortunately, the former won't apply to the manufacturer of the installer bundle - InstallCore.
That's why this controversy grinds on for so long.
One cannot knock over an existing business modell, overnight. Everybody has to gain a living.
Concerning the installation of unwanted adware, developers and community go along with each other - this shouldn't happen.
I'm sorry to say that this situation won't change due to the development of JD2 and some other complications, soon.

2. There will definitely be a paid version of JD, in future.
It's not just that it won't contain any adware but also some extra features. The price will be located between some cents and euros, depending on its reception.
What would you pay for a version with no adware, extra features and the support of the JD developers? Write to us via PN or email to support at jdownloader.org!

3. You find an adware-free installer for every operating system at this link.
Please do not spread the direct download links! If any, please link to the post like I did.
Let's be honest: how many developers do such things for their community?

4. All that can be said, has been said. Everyone who comes across this post by using a search engine shall be referred to the rest of this thread. New threads concerning adware in JD will be closed.

5. The checkbox "Advanced" has to stay checked, otherwise all changes will be lost. If anything has been installed, though, we recommend removing the adware with the tools mentioned at the end of this post.
Please be aware of the many agreements from users we receive whom haven't been installed adware.
In addition, supporters and developers will help you in our Support Chat (with TeamViewer if requested).
Tools to get rid of accidently installed adware:
AdwCleaner:
chip.de/downloads/AdwCleaner_58118522.html
JunkwareRemovalTool:
chip.de/downloads/Junkware-Removal-Tool_61676499.html

We wish you all the very best!

Yes - read the TOS - if you don't agree to the TOS, uncheck all options that say that you want to install it AND press "Skip" instead of "Next".
If you install adware by mistake we linked tools for you to remove it easily.

Count me in as another frankly angry long term JD user who having decided to reinstall using the exe rather than .jar now finds various unwanted malware installed without my consent. I do not recall seeing any opt out for binkiland or something called "special Box "! or the browser hijacker which I just reversed in Chrome after a warning and others which are now in my programs listing and when I try to uninstall it says "wait until current program is installed or being changed " for the last hour!

Quote:
Oha. I'm sorry about that. We got several complains about Binkiland during the weekend. We contacted our Installer Provider and asked for details. Probably the decline process is too complicated. We will probably remove it from the installer.
That was a month ago. For "complicated " read "non existent" or "deceptive".
Probably? Are you going to remove Binkiland or not?

@Patr100
Have you at least read THIS post?
Especially point 6 which does contain links to 2 tools which will remove most of the currently existing adware and if that doesn't help, you can still contact us here and via support chat so we can help you.

Yes I read that post. Basically it says things aint gonna change any time soon so JD might still install malware/crapware so here's how to ttry to dig yourself out of it.. I appreciate you may feel a need to monetise JD in some way but using the underhand methods bundled in the installers you use and then having to help others after complaints to dig themselves out of malware riddled PCs is not helping anyone.
And those links to an "adware free" install in that post . Are they same as on this page?
http://jdownloader.org/download/offline
cause the Windows installer for 64bit on that page definitely installs malware if not delivering ads!

it seems only the .jar install is free of crap to avoid. I wish I left it as it was.

Several other points:
The statements at that post are contradictory.

If adware has been removed according to the first quote then why are tools still necessary to remove "currently existing adware"?
If you are somehow making some technical distinction , it is disingenious as it makes no difference to the experience of the end user! Either adware has been removed from the installer or it hasn't!

I've just spend an hour etc trying to remove this rubbish and it is not clear if the Junkware removal tool you suggest via your link has made any difference. typically the download page for that program also has a deceptively large download button for a completely unrelated and unnecessary program! They're ALL at it!
I have also lost all my open and pinned Chrome tabs in the process!

How?
Did you remove them?
Did you reset Chrome and thus they were removed?
Without knowing what you did we cannot help to avoid this in the future.

About the "adware removed" in the other post:
It was about specific adware - now about adware in general.

I didn't deliberately remove them, or reset chrome , why should I ? I wouldn't be complaining if I had!

As for your second point, I think you need to learn what the phrase, "for the avoidance of doubt " means. You still have a contradiction there.
if you had quoted a post you were replying to, and said "that particular/specific adware and named it might have made some limited sense, but you didn't. Otherwise it still doesn't make sense for a post you are drawing mine and everyone's attention to as being some kind of definitive statement to deflect the often angry flack you're getting from other users as well.

Ok . As I said, monetising is one thing but if these programs were any good they wouldn't need to sneak into people computers on the back of legit useful software like your own, and be so difficult to remove. They are parasites, pure and simple, and your partnership and association with them is PR of the worse kind and damaging to your reputation.

any chance of an answer to my previous questions?

1. THESE installers are adware-free, yes.
2. Sorry, I cannot speak for coalado - I'm not working on the installer and thus have no influence on it.
Please either wait for coalados answer or contact him via support chat on german business days between 9AM and 5PM CET.

That wasn't my question, I asked if they were the same as on the main download page for JD2, So it appears the actual answer is no, they are not the same as on the download page I linked to?

I don't know why its so difficult to get straight answers.

Exactly - Windows installers from jdownloader.org = contain adware
Adware free installers linked in the thread above = do not contain adware.

I just downloaded the jdownloader installer and my antivirus stopped as a trojan.

172.16.xx.xx Windows 8 Professional Edition Trojan.Gen.2 1 22/04/2015 11:48:55 Default
avisaweb
My Company\Low Privilege Users\IT C:\Users\user.DOMAIN\AppData\Local\Temp\13074166114134127506.exe
Total Risks Count 2

Any ideas why Symantec EndPoint Antivirus stopped it?

At home last night i installed jdownloader installer (avast antivirus) no warnings but after that i had my chrome default page changed with another search engine which i uninstalled manualy.
I had to use malwarebytes progie and search and destroy to fully clean up my system after installation.
Are you sure there is no malware in the jdownloader installer ?

Default jdownloader beta 2 adware

Hello

I installed the program. Saw no option to not install Adware.
So now the Adware has taken over my computer.

It interferes with normal Google search and opens extra advertising pages.

To try and fix it, I uninstalled jdownloader and Crazy Score (Crazy Score is your Adware package that I didn't want).

What else must be done to get back to normal operation?
Is there anything else I must remove? Or am I stuck?

Thanks.

Hi
No success with Supportchat yet.
Is there a checklist available showing what needs to be done to remove Adware?

Hello
Thanks for the info.

I ran the two Adware removal packages shown at the bottom of the post you quoted. They removed several items.

I don't know if there is more to do. Should I still reach out to support chat for more instructions, or am I good to go?

Default Thanks for the virus you absolute arseholes

I've tried multiple different virus scanners and deleted multiple programs, but it just keeps coming back in different forms. This is not even on the computer that I installed Jdownloader, it actually moved to my other computer through chrome extensions and likeed it up before I even realised it was there. I'm going to have to reinstall windows now, I hope the devs of this shit program die.

Read - especially the info at the bottom:
https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...&postcount=482
We do not just provide the adware but also the information and support to remove it.
Also this is adware, NOT any kind of "virus" so please stop trying to spread lies.

It moved from one computer to another through an adware chrome extension. That is the definition of a virus.

I've tried all the programs listed there, as well as malwarebytes, and still I'm getting TremendousSale popups, although the name seems to change every time I remove one iteration.

@Arkanoid:
First of all we are sorry that you have issues with the bundled adware. Read here https://support.jdownloader.org/inde...g-Installation and use the Junkware Removal Tool to remove it.
The optional bundles of JDownloader are NO Viruses and DO NOT "..move from one computer to another..." In case something like this happened, then it did not came from JDownloader! There is no hidden installation and till now everyone blaming us with it never provided any proof. No Screenshots/No Screencasts and even in live Teamviewer never...In case you really want to help, then show us/provide more information.

We do our best to help but only if you let us help you. It is your choice to accept help or just blame us with something we did not do.

Default MalSign.Generic.936

This morning 8:29AM GMT+8, when I wake up I saw my Anti Virus detected several JD2 as a Virus MalSign.Generic.936, but before that is still clean a exe.
So, I wan't to ask is this a faults alert or is my PC's problem? Need help ASAP, cause my JD2 is running before the virus detection.
