@madascene

That's another reason why I'll never run W7. Not being able to un-install a program that doesn't work well is a shame. Are you running an ad blocker or a P2P client?

@remi
I just don't get your point. The firewall comes default with Windows 7 installation and can only be turned off, not uninstalled. Its nothing special with W7, its the same with all versions of Windows. Where's the problem in that? Its not like the firewall stays on and keeps blocking when turned off.

I use Adblock Plus which is a Google Chrome extension. P2P client like you mean utorrent? Nah its been years since I downloaded any torrent.

@Think3r
No word from the devs yet?

Try to disable that Adblock Plus browser extension and see what happens.

I know M$ is a communist monopoly that tries to force people to use their software. I've un-installed most M$ tools, including their stupid and insecure IE browser and their bad media player software. I'm running XP and I see that's it's possible to un-install it. See "**External links are only visible to Support Staff**. I'm sure it's possible in W95 because I don't have one there. If you're correct about W7 then I don't understand why their firewall in W7 suddenly became a virus.

Disabled adblock. Still nothing. Its just a browser extension, cant see any relation to JD anyway.

I don't think M$ tries to force anyone to use anything. That's Apple for you. M$ bundles Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player merely for convenience because majority of computer users don't mind using the default applications to get their job done. If these general purpose applications didn't come bundled with the OS, many would have been nice guying about having to download third party apps. (Btw, I think Windows Media Player is brilliant for managing music collection via the library, far better than any music app I have ever used.)

The firewall is there for the same reason, to protect novice users who aren't bothered about security or don't want to pay for commercial firewalls. Again its there keeping in mind the convenience of the customers. One can easily turn it off with a single click.

Cool

I know Apfel achieved the same type of power than M$, but I'm not using any Apfel product. I intend to use Linux exclusively.

I recently had to play a video on my sister's computer and it didn't play because she was still using WMP. 2 minutes later VLC media player was installed and the video played smoothly. You should have seen her face. Some people really don't know anything about computers and software and that's why M$ and Apfel have been able to establish such communist monopolies. Gogol and Faecesbook are trying to achieve the same type of power because most people don't know better alternatives and they are constantly indoctrinated with the same propaganda.

I'm using specialised applications for video and audio, TV and radio streaming, recording, rating, and playlist management. I haven't found a better combination of products than the one I'm using now. I don't know what you mean precisely with "managing music collection". Can you please explain that?

As I wrote before, turning off a firewall isn't sufficient, but obviously, you can choose between using jD or that firewall.

Oh please don't praise on VLC, its a good thing that its got codec inbuilt but video rendering quality is simply horrible on VLC. Windows Media Player isn't bad, it just doesn't come with the necessary codecs to play most formats which can be fixed by installing CCCP or K-lite. That aside, MPC is by far the best video player out there today with its EVR Custom Preset Profile which renders video with outstanding quality.

I don't think its fair to blame Google or M$. I mean they aren't trying to shut down other competing companies/products to maintain their monopoly. They are competing in a free open market. They have a monopoly because people like their products and the alternatives can't compete with what these giants have to offer.

I also use 3rd party apps for most purposes but not everyone needs the best applications available out there. Like for example my dad, he only turns on his notebook once a week to check emails and that's it. IE is doing the job for him, why should he bother with Chrome?

By managing music collection, I meant that WM12 library makes it easy to sort my music collection based on Artist, Album, Star Rating etc. It categorizes everything so beautifully.

I swear you have some agenda against that Windows Firewall. I have properly added all the required exceptions to the firewall rules and there is absolutely no way can that firewall be responsible for this problem. Its a simple rule based firewall like IPFWADM in Linux. It doesn't have a mind of its own that it will keep blocking JD even after telling it not to.

Man I really need some dev to reply. Wonder where they are. Since its the weekends, guess I will come back on Monday.

remi, since you keep insisting that Windows 7 is the source of all my problems (without any basis) regarding Jdownloader, I had to do some experimentation to prove otherwise.

Today I turned on my old laptop with only Windows Xp installed. No antivirus, no firewalls...same problem with Jdownloader.

Next, I turned on my Linux box with Fedora installed. Fired up Jdownloader and again as you can see, the same problem:

If you still don't get it that its a plugin problem (perhaps caused by some server side changes made by Megaupload, Rapidshare and Fileserve), then I got nothing more to say. It was more than obvious from the beginning that the firewall and the AV wasn't the cause of the problem because if it was it would have messed with downloads from Wupload and Filesonic too but that's not happening.

Even if you can prove the problem is the same on all those platforms you own, why aren't other account holders reporting this problem? Are you the only person who's still paying for these services that all others use for free?

I would now suspect your ISP or networking equipment, your router/modem for instance. Maybe you're already suffering from SOPA-tests.

I've the same functionalities in my software without using any of the M$ apps. I've nothing against any firewall at all. All I know is that firewalls and virus programs are the most common cause of problems with jD. You can only be sure that they aren't the cause when they can be un-installed.

The predatory practices of M$ and other big multinationals are known by most people and I regret you aren't aware of the mechanisms and strategies these big monopolies use to obtain and consolidate their power. Please read some books about globalisation, disaster capitalism, cartel formation, price fixing strategies, public relations (or its synonym, propaganda), subsidies, government lobbying and corruption, selection sold as election, particracies, market protectionism, patenting, or other power related and competition killing strategies and you'll start understanding how communism really works.

Communism is the most successful power strategy so far in history because it can steadily increase power. The blood vessels feeding this metastatic cancer are the hard working, tax paying slaves and the state bonds buying bank cartels and naive citizens.

You've an illusionary world vision and it proves how powerful indoctrination and propaganda has become. Free markets don't exist or they die soon after they're created. In a free market it's impossible to make any profit. Prices would converge to cost level due to the pressure of competition.

With free competition and free markets all problems of this planet would be resolved instantly. More and more people are starting to understand this and that's why the Euroviet Union is on the brink of collapse. The Greek are the smartest and they're now starting to boycott their corrupt government and other power elites. Other parts of the world will follow because everywhere power is based on the same pyramidal debt scheme.

remi, if I am the only person having this problem, then what is this? :

Besides, I am not even the thread starter. I am just keeping this thread alive in the hope that devs will do something because this is a major problem. Its already been a week and I haven't heard anything from them yet. There's also another member trying to get the problem of MU account getting disabled fixed but no activity there also.

And yeah I'm very well aware of lobbying by copywrong cartels, SOPA/PIPA and all that. However, I haven't seen enough evidence yet to demonize Google and M$ and put them in the same group as MPAA/RIAA/Apple etc. Its too easy to generalize all corporate entities as evil.

Do you really think that those problems of the past plague the 15 million customers of jD? You wouldn't believe your eyes if that would happen.

Please explain why Gogol and M$ would be in a different league than RIAA, Apfel and MPAA. They belong all to the same power elites that enslave and manipulate people thanks to the support of communist governments.

You probably are too young to know that M$ has been accused and condemned repeatedly because of seldom applied anti-trust laws. Their anti-competitive practices had become so obvious that some governments were forced to finally apply their own laws. It cost them some billions of bribery money, because massive amounts of money had to be paid as penalties and to their own army of lawyers.

If you would know how Gogol manipulates its search results in favour of its own subsidiaries/products/services and cartel friends, you would immediately stop using any of its many services. I'm not going to describe its spying practices and the related risks for people to expose their private data because that would of course be OT.

remi, we have diverted too far away from the purpose of this thread already. I just want to make JD work like it used to but this thread is going nowhere. I know its a never ending debate this and hence I don't want to get embroidered in it too much.

Google can manipulate its search results all it wants in favour of its own subsidiaries/products/services because its their own site and if I had a site of my own, I would be serving my own interests first with it naturally before anyone else's. And spying practices, so far there's no evidence that they collect info for any purpose other than to improve search results and market products.

Yeah I know M$ has been accused of anti-competitive practice but how exactly does that concern me? Its a case of supply and demand with me. I side with them because they make products that I want. I am not a fanboy. I tried Open Office and found it to be a good alternative for my limited use and so I ditched MS Office. Similarly, if something better than Windows comes along, I will happily switch to that.

If I follow your path, I would end up boycotting any and all products made by the corporations. I would have to stop watching Hollywood movies, stop listening to music produced by the labels, stop playing games produced by the major game companies, stop using all Google services and stop using Windows. Sorry but that's not a practical approach for me. So can we please give it a rest?

Oh and btw, I can resume all downloads via the browser. So I know its not my ISP playing spoilsports.

@madascene
I don't think any Dev. will read this thread, I will close this later today after remi reply your last post because he will certainly insist to reply even if he has to open another thread for that. Just open another thread when Jiaz is around.

@madascene

Jiaz will probably give the same recommendations as he did in the past. That's also the reason why I give these recommendations. Jiaz tries to focus on the programming part. He would waste his time repeating his recommendations all the time.

Concerning the firewall and M$ products, Jiaz isn't using any of these, because he dumped M$ a long time ago in favour of Linux. He's a smart and independent person who doesn't show any signs of sheep behaviour, the behaviour huge corporations and states need and propagate in order to continue consumerism and tax extortion slavery.

Almost all the software I use is open source. Yesterday I replaced my Windoze desktop by a much better alternative. I don't watch Hollywood movies because they're sponsored by DOD to promote violence. I almost never listen to the cheap vomit coming from the major labels. I prefer the much better music coming from independent and smaller labels. That music is much more interesting, creative and expressive.

Where do you come from? What isp?
What firewall/av?
Please provide a logfile with error with max connections = 1
http://support.jdownloader.org/index...&kbarticleid=8

ERROR Chunk (no range header response)0
something intercepts and changes the response (maybe transparent proxy)

It isn't his ISP or network (equipment) because he can download/resume fine in his browser.

Jiaz, I already provided the log file in the first post I made in this thread. Here it is again:
http://jdownloader.org/pastebin/68470

This log has records for errors shown when max con=1 and also when max con>1. I included both because with con=1, I get "Server does not support chunkload" when trying to resume a download and with con>1, I get "Unexpected rangeheader format:null".

As for previous questions, I am from India, ISP is Siti Cable. I use Avast AV and default Windows 7 firewall. Already made the required exceptions to allow java.exe and javaw.exe.

Something blocks the HTTP Request with Range request

i guess its transparent proxy by your ISP or some firewall/av/router settings

any range requests ends in 503 error
