Default Major: Installer on Hotfile is dead

I have not tested all of the JD installer mirrors, but the file is missing on Hotfile. The recommended host (Brothersoft) doesn't seem to have any trouble.

Unfortunately, many uploaders have posted links to the Hotfile copy. When I find them, I PM the uploader to refer people to this site, but there are still a lot of incorrect links out there.

Cool

I second this. The jD Team should run a check on their download page at least once a day. Just grab the download page and have a look in the offline package.

Currently there are two items off-line. One hotfile and one http link.

Remi,

That is what we are for! I mean that all users should be reporting these problems.

Seriously, the team is all volunteer and doesn't have the staff to do this. It is easy enough to run a link checker, but then somebody has to check the results.

Which link is off-line?

It might also be useful to mirror the downloads on CNET (download.com). They love this kind of product and they have large, high-speed network. They also have a service available to e-mail about updated versions. The Brothersoft links are a good step. MajorGeeks is another that would gladly house our downloads.

Cool

The off-line links are :-

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

IMO, the most rational/efficient process is to let the person responsible for putting these links also test those links on a regular basis. (S)he can then immediately correct the errors.
