Question An idea for dynamic redirection.

Hi,

I use nginx and redirection for my services running in my nas, like sickrage, deluge etc..

I want to use the same thing with JD like jd.<domain>.com

I'm using freenas with jd as headless in a jail.

The thing is every time when my jail restarts, the device id changes.
  • Can we read the device id from any file? If we can, how?
  • Can we put this device id in nginx configuration? If we can, how?

I could create a script to run these processes before nginx service starts.

So the steps should be.

<check if jd is running or not>
<run jd as headless service>
<get device id from a file which jd created or updated >
<put device id at redirection line in nginx configuration>
<start nginx service or reload nginx configuration if it's running>

The redirection should be to this address:

https://my.jdownloader.org/index.html?deviceId=<device_id>#webinterface:downloads

How about it?

You should fix the jail ! Please provide more about your setup.
I guess it's either caused by issues with owner/permission or you use some sort of scripts that clear tmp folder and settings.

You try to find a hacky workaround for something that works out of the box So you should fix your box

Are we talking about changing device id?
I saw this happen when I rebooted my NAS and I don't always reboot my NAS actually. For example latest reboot happened about 5 months ago.. But, well I reboot for software upgrades ( operating system ) or some small hardware changes ( sometimes not with the system but the network or electrical cabling etc... )

deviceID should not change at all! So something in your setup is wrong. Either your permissions/owners are wrong and JDownloader is unable to write configs or you have some sort of script that clears settings/tmp folder
