Default [Not a bug] Renaming packages in Downloads not taking effect? JD2

Hi, I have noticed that when I forget to rename a package in LinkGrabber, add it to Downloads, and then rename it, the package is afterwards saved onto HDD under the old name. Only happens when I rename it in Downloads, not in LinkGrabber. I rename partially (end of string).

I use download path: C:\Users\XXX\Downloads\<jd:packagename>

Not a bug.

Once packages are moved into the download list, the dynamic tags inside the download path are applied.
The "subfolder by package name"-part is then done and changing the package name in your download list will not affect the download path.

Here are your options:
- rename them in beforehand in the linkgrabber
- or: when in download list: change the package name and the path

You mean right click and choose Properties and Rename package?

That will also only rename the package.
In downloadlist, if you want to change the path ,even if the last part of your path _is_ your package name, you need to explicitely do that so either select the package and change the path in the bottom package properties panel or rightclick on it -> Properties -> Set Download Directory

OK, I think I figured that out:

Set Download Directory
click on Create new folder button
set folder name
navigate to it
click on Save

This is complicated indeed.

No need to do it in that complicated way.
You may also just click on the package, edit the download path in the bottom properties panel and hit enter.

Also, you are free to define custom hotkeys for the file path editor to speed up things even more.

Just to let you know, after playing with this yesterday, all my downloads ended up in root folder only all mixed up. Now it seems to be working again but I am not going to touch this anymore. If I forget to rename a package in LinkGrabber it will stay under old name. It is so complicated for no reason. Renaming a package should automatically take effect on all actions connected with that. BTW Why are there 2 options: Rename F2 and Rename Package? None of them changes the output folder anyway as discussed above.

You possible changed the "subfolder by package name" setting by mistake, see:

To me it is not complicated at all.
If you are not fine with JDownloaders' design which is okay but so far you are the first user who has ever complained about said behavior.

The download path is set "final" when items are moved to the download list.
We are not planning to change that behavior.

The "subfolder by package name" 'action' is not connected to the rename feature anymore once your package was moved to the download list.
If you urgently need that behavior, you can do this using EventScripter scripts:

Again:
Yes it does change the folder but only in the linkgrabber.
