What is the default font?
Hi everybody,
I'm not sure but I think JDownloader's default font has changed with my latest update. Maybe it hasn't changed, but nevermind: the font that I currently see is narrow and I like how it looks. However I can't find it in the settings: - There's no "Font" setting in the "User Interface" tab, - In the "Advanced Settings" tab, the "Font Name" parameter is set to... "default", which doesn't really help if we want to know what the default font is! Could somebody help with this? Thanks! |

Default font has not changed but there has been long time bug with wrong font scaling. the scaling was applied twice.

Thanks. Yes, I'm on Windows.
I've done a quick test. My Tahoma font comes close but not exactly identical : **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** First row is JD's font. Second row is Tahoma 9 (from Word @100%) Third row is Tahoma 8 JD's font seems to be somewhere between Tahoma 8 and 9. Anyway, Tahoma seems to be "good enough" for me at this point. Last but not least, maybe JD's settings could be improved ("Tahoma" instead of just "Default" maybe, or even better, a nice font selector drop-down menu in the "User Interface" tab? ) Last edited by Jose Hidalgo; 01.09.2022 at 20:51. |

the string "default" is an identifier so JDownloader knows not to change the *default* font showing/storing Tahoma will then break default handling when changing language. if required we can add this font name information somewhere else, eg in the log. Quote:
for very little advantage/use

Thank you
Yes, I totally understand that it would be a lot of work with very little advantages. No problem. I hadn't thought that each language could have a different default font. In that case, I agree with you: maybe the font name info could be added somewhere. But not necessarily in the log (what % of users read logs?). Maybe somewhere in the setttings ("User interface"), as non-modifiable info: only if a user modifies the font via the advanced settings, THEN the font name info would be modified accordingly. But I'm good with Tahoma 8, no need to do anything for me. Thank you very much! :D |

Yes, because only very little fonts do have support for many unicode chars and eastern/asia languages work with more and more unicode and therefore have different default font name set

I will think about it but no promises that this will have high priority
