Pause and Speed limit have no effect
hey everyone!
i noticed that the pause function and the speed limitation at the bottom right corner have no effect whatsoever. this is an example scenario: - "Speed" set to 20 and turns red -> no effect - Pause button is pressed, Speed decreases to 10 and turns red -> no effect. i am verifying this with "Net Limiter" where even after pausing/limiting the speed, the JDownloader process still uses the max bandwith available. for the second check i am going by the mIRC ping of several networks, which all stay at 700~900 (which indicates that i'm basically downloading at full speed). is there anything required for the pause/speed limitation to be activated? (WinXP Prof SP3, .NET Framework 3.5 and latest JRE/JDK.) Last edited by Jiaz; 04.11.2011 at 09:47. |

sounds like firewall/antivirus!
what firewall/antivirus do you have?

hello Jiaz, thanks for the response!
i don't use any antivirus software and i use the regular WinXP firewall with exceptions added for java/JD. |

i tried turning off the firewall entirely but still no change in the behavior. |

I am having the same problem.
Pause and speed limit have no effect. JDownloader shows a limited speed but it is not actually limited. (Bandwidth is monitored separately from JD.) I have downloaded from MU, RS, & others. Last edited by JJMC89; 27.12.2009 at 01:02. |

(Hello everyone) I have the exact same problem. Pause and speed limit do not work. Using Outpost Security Suite as firewall/antivirus.

check it to exclude java.exe and javaw.exe and also disable http checker if possible

Thanks Jiaz, but I can't fix it. I used to have download problems (wouldn't start or slow speed) but those were solved by "disabling filtering" on javaw.exe in OSS. Pause and speed limit problems remain, even with OSS disabled. Can't find something related to http checking. Also I'm not sure how "Stop" works. If it's supposed to immediately pause the specific download, that doesn't work too.

I would un-install OSS if you've a firewall in your router. Then reboot your computer and check whether the problems have been solved.
Pause only limits your speed to a maximum speed you can set. By default it is 10 KB/s. |

I've uninstalled it but problem remains. I've tried to disable the router's firewall to check if it's causing the problem, but it's an ISP-locked device and doesn't allow much tinkering with the firewall.

Don't disable the firewall in your router because it's the only one you have after you've un-installed the one on your computer.
Can you show a screen shot of jD's Download pane when you see the speed limit problem? |

What's amazing is that the Downloadspeed = 0 B/s.
Are you using the Nightly test version? |

|

I used to, but I uninstalled it recently when I found out there's a plug-in at real-debrid.fr (instead of .com) for the stable version. Uninstalled the nightly and reinstalled the stable (didn't just update the stable over the nightly).
edit: However before this, when I first installed the nightly, I think I did it over the stable, without uninstalling first. |

I asked it because I can't find any trace of real-debrid.fr in the stable version I'm running.
If you provide a complete and detailed log then the diagnosis might be more precise. |

@Terradownload
Please remember that speed in ETA is not real time speed. |
#23
|
|||
|

:confused: ETA is expressed in time units (h:m:s), not in speed units (B/s).

C'mon, remi, you know what I mean, nobody's perfect! Should I say beside ETA?

I've checked the connection's speed with other software too. No pausing or speed limiting occurs.

If you really need this feature I would use a traffic shaper or bandwidth limiter until the issue is solved.
@tony2long I'm sorry but I don't understand what you're trying to say. |

Thanks, I'll keep an eye for updates since I really like jdownloader. It's a useful feature, because when maximum speed is reached, browsing becomes difficult and annoying, especially if you don't have a top of the line router.

JDownloader seems to be ignoring speeds limits for me too. It will max out my connection at 4.57 MB/s usually but if I set the "speed" box to 4403 (4.30 MB/s), it will be above this most of the time. :(
I'm using the latest release version. |

wait for next major update. jdownloader will contain a new speedlimiter which is very accurate down to some bytes/s

No official date given for stable, but we are hoping for new beta release within couple months.
