Default lots of CRC errors in RS and MU ....

Hi.

First of all, thank you to the developer of jdownloader. I just found out about, and I think it's a great software.

Now, I've put a lot of links for download, and I've noticed in the later parts that I'm getting a lot of "CRC Check Failed" in the Rapidshare files; I try downloading them again, and I still get them.

The Megaupload doesn't show any "CRC Check Failed" messages, but I've tried downloading the same file twice, and when I check each using md5, they have different values.

I'm currently using the .7569 Java version (the one in the download page) on Java 6 under Ubuntu. On the installation, I used the option with flashget, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Are there some settings to prevent this many CRC errors? Should I limit it to one download at a time? Anyone else got these problems downloading? Is there an older Java version that I can download that might be more reliable in downloading?

Anyway, thanks again. I really like this program a lot, and I'm hoping someone might have some answers.

Since you sem to be the only one with crc errors, I guess that it is not a general problem.

- I suggest downloading these files using firefox and compare their checksum.
- Restart your router

Moreover:
Do you use official SUN Java 1.6 ?

How many chunks do you use? free or premium?

We only are able to to an crc check if we have the md5/sha1/crc of the link. Megaupload does not provide this hash...so there is no checksum validation.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I have downloaded the files using the browser, and when I checked their checksum, it was different.

I'm using SUN Java 6 JRE, which is the same version Sun Java 1.6 without the programming tools, just the run-time environment.

I'm a free user; I'm not a member of RS or MU.

I was originally downloading a maximum of 3 files at a time, but only one per host. So I was downloading RS, MU, and Depositfiles.

I've now brought down the number of downloads to one-at-a-time, and so far, the files are coming up with the correct checksums. Hopefully, that's all I needed to do.

I'll post again if this approach remains successful. Thank you.

Sorry I haven't written back. Limiting the downloads to one file at a time didn't work.

I've now increased the buffer size to 2mb, and I'll see if that works out.

In the meantime, I've just been re-downloading the files with the bad crc. Is there a feature to auto-re-download files that have bad crc check?

Thanks.

Okay, increasing the buffer size didn't work. I still got crc errors.

What's strange is that whenever I download from RS using the Opera browser, I don't get crc errors. So somehow, in my experience, the downloader of Opera is much more reliable than the downloader of Jdownloader. Don't know why, though.

My computer is old ... amd athlon, maybe 5 years old or so, and the HD is brand new, but it is IDE to match this older motherboard.

I'm trying it now with the older version, 0.4.021, to see if it will work better. I don't know if it crc checks, but I'll know if it downloaded without errors if the rar files can extract without error. Thanks.

Well, that didn't work. Guess I'll just have to keep redownloading the files with errors.

Have you tried with Max Con = 1 (the box on the left of Max Dls)?

Yes, that was the first thing I tried. Doesn't work.

I don't know why Opera downloads files fine, but I get CRC problems with JDownloader?

Thanks anyway.

(btw, maybe the "solved" title should be removed; just a suggestion)

Cool

I think the best approach is to use the logging feature of jD and upload the log. A jD developer might be able to find the cause.

did you add java.exe and javaw.exe to the exclude list of your firewall?

hi, i have the same problem, everything i download from rs appears to be corrupted. here i put some information:
+ the problem appears mainly with rapidshare, especially in jdwownloader but also in firefox
+ i thought i got a virus or a corruption in the windows APIs, so i formatted my pc, but the problem remains
+ the problem is the same in both win xp sp3 and ubuntu 9.04
+ i checked my router configuration, but i see nothing strange
(i cannot think i'm so unlucky to download so many corrupted files...)

can this be helpful?

Don't you see anything suspicious in your log? Otherwise, upload it for the devs to be analysed.

sounds like unstable internet connection (crc errors) or unstable connection to pc (maybe low wlan connection) or any driver/hardware issue

Default Settings

Hi Buggsy,

I've followed this thread with much interest.
I've your same problem and also a Netgear router, could you post the settings that you have modified?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all.

I just recently got a new computer, keeping only the HD from my former computer, and so far, I haven't gotten any CRC errors. I also did download the updates.

So far, it's looking to me like the CRC errors I was getting was resulting from the hardware, not from jdownloader; either the H/W was defective from age, or it was too slow for this software.

Anyway, just giving you an update that it's working fine after I've upgraded the H/W. Thanks again.
