Extracting error CRC zip or rar is not an archive

Some of my downloads show the extraction failed CRC message and when I try to manually unzip them in different programs I get the not an archive message. Winrar views it as a word file . I tried some of the repair programs too but I get the same error message. Is this a case of the files themselves being bad or a jdownloader issue?
