Hello. I am using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and trying to use JDownloader 2.
I download the installation script and run it by typing "sudo sh JDownloader2Setup_unix_nojre.sh". Setup completes and it asks whether to launch the application. I select to launch and JDownloader 2 launches and works properly. Next time I launch the application from the launcher (without sudo elevation), application starts but the "Tools" menu on the top menu bar (File, Settings, Tools, Help) is grayed out and non-clickable. Also when I paste links, it crawls, but does not find or list any packages to download. Only way to get the application to run properly, is to launch it by "sudo /opt/jd2/JDownloader2". When launched this way, the "Tools" menu is clickable, and the application can find and list packages. Is this the proper way to set up and use JDownloader 2 on Ubuntu? Is there an alternative way to use the application without sudo elevation? Thanks in advance. Also, "java --version" output is below. openjdk 18.0.2-ea 2022-07-19 OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 18.0.2-ea+9-Ubuntu-222.04) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 18.0.2-ea+9-Ubuntu-222.04, mixed mode, sharing) Last edited by aes1006; 15.08.2022 at 20:49.
