Default internet connection dies if speed is too high

Hello, I am using Windows 7 (64 bit), my version of Jdownloader says “09” in the properties of file description (since I can't find an “about” tab which normally provides specific version info) and it says it's up to date. I have my Java up to date and it has access through my firewall.
My problem is this, after a few minutes of downloading I lose internet connection. It's not just JD that loses connection, it's everything on my system, web browsers, instant messengers etc. And Windows trouble shooter says it can't find a problem.
The only way I can get back online is to restart my computer or just disconnect and reconnect to my network (I'm on WiFi).

Limiting the connections to 1, the downloads to 1, and the speed cap to 500 KB/ps seems to stop this from happening. The downside is I am limited to 500 KB/ps, rather than the 3 MB/ps and higher I can get.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

Hi,

Use the speed limiter, in order to limit the global speed of JD.
You can find the speed in the bottom right of JD, "0" (cero) means no limit in the speed.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I don't think you understand the problem. I know how to limit my speed. The thing I am asking is why do I have to limit my speed in order to stop my internet from breaking.

Because JD is using the entire bandwidth to do your downloads, that's why it is a download manager.
